This gets rid of the floppy trem arm syndrome and gets rid of the old solution of wrapping a couple thicknesses of teflon plumber's tape around the arm threads to give it some purchase inside the block. They're cheap; do yourself a favor & get a pack, put one in. Put the rest away for when you lose one 'cause you forgot it was in there while changing strings or something.

Most Fender Strats don't come with one and there is SUPPOSED to be one in the trem-arm hole. People handle guitars in stores, they fall out. Even the one in a high-end model like Am Vintage might be crunched at the factory. Save the trouble & use the spring. The trem arm will rotate out of the way or stay where you put it within reach with just the right amount of tension on it. You'll probably do a head-slap & wonder why you didn't do this before.

According to most sources these are made specifically for Fender tremolos, not Squier or any other brand, but if you have some heavy duty wire cutters you can cut these to size to fit the arm cavity on your tremolo.

I have a Squier strat with a 2-point tremolo that the arm was feeling really loose even though it was screwed in all the way. These springs by themselves were a little too tall to fit the hole and I couldn't get the bar to screw in, so I trimmed it down just enough so the arm would go in and tighten down a bit.

Bottom line, it does stabilize the arm a lot more, and doesn't kill the note when you use it aggressively. The arm feels more stable now, though it does still rock in the hole a bit.

When I do get a Fender strat, I'll write a follow up review.

I didn't know my Strat was supposed to have a spring installed in the tremelo arm hole! So simple but what a huge difference it makes in terms of functionality.

What is there to say, really? It does what it is supposed to do and does it well. With the spring in, the tremelo arm tends to stay within easy reach. Since putting in a new spring, I tend to use my trem more than I ever have before. Strange how such a small thing can make such a big difference to my playing style. To think I recently bought my 6th Stratocaster and I never even realized they even had a tremelo spring! The pack comes with 12 which seems excessive till you realize how easy it is to lose them. Keep them handy; I am already on my 3rd one from this pack. At least they're cheap.... Keep on keeping on!

Comments about Fender Tremolo Arm Tension Springs (12):

Everyone should have a few spares laying around. Everyone forgets to tape the hole once in a while. I have seen many floppy trems in my day and only realized a few years ago that there is a spring in there.(Or at least there is supposed to be) I order more when I get down to two spares. A dozen should hold you for quite a while.

Comments about Fender Tremolo Arm Tension Springs (12):

I bought these for two left handed American Strats. These springs dropped right in and worked like a champ. I had just picked up a nice Mexican Strat at a Pawn Shop a couple of weeks before and it came without the tremolo arm. I ordered the arm along with the springs and when they came in, dropped in a spring and screwed on the arm. Didn't work. Humm, Took of the spring cover off the back and there was the tension spring rolling around. The Mexican strat tremolo arm hole goes stright through..nothing to hold a spring. Learn something new even after doing this for 50 years. 5 Stars, not the springs fault, my fault.

Comments about Fender Tremolo Arm Tension Springs (12):

My American Standard Stratocaster was sounding awful, mostly due to a lack of tone. These tiny metal springs were the answer. In addition to massively improving the tone due to their specific alloy, thickness and tension, they also seem to somehow keep the tremolo arm wherever you want it. I thought that was an interesting little perk on top of the amazing tone. Now my Stratocaster sounds better than ever thanks to this purchase. I didn't even have to practice or work on my skills to improve my tone. I just bought this item and Bam! Better tone.

I've been playing Strats since the 60s, and I NEVER NEW about the tension spring ... EVER! That's crazy, but I bought a bunch of them for my Strats, Jazzmaster and Jaguar. They work GREAT!!! NOTE: A lot of guitars, I have bought off the wall and the spring was never there! Get yourself some!
