Bass module for the latest BOSE systems.

The BOSE® B2 bass module is a high performance flexible bass solution designed for L1 Model 1S and Model II systems. It features two 10” high-excursion woofers mounted into a rugged enclosure.

For additional flexibility, the B2 includes a rear panel switch that allows for higher or lower bass levels to be selected based on application or personal preference. Proprietary BOSE technology in the L1 systems automatically senses the switch position of the B2 and provides the proper equalization and power. Interlocking end caps allow up to two B2 modules to be stacked together. Includes protective slip cover and NL4 cable.

Applications include educational and business uses, such as announcements, presentations and training demonstrations for up to 300 people. It is also useful in portable applications within houses of worship, sporting events and many other instances where a PA and bass are required.

The B2 bass module is also ideal for musicians and DJs that require higher bass output and impact. Both will benefit from the flexibility of the three-position sensing switch. Simply switch to “+” for the maximum bass output. Full bands will appreciate the B2 module’s higher output, which provides additional bass for kick drums and bass guitars.

Comments about Bose B2 Bass Module:

I only buy BOSE products when offered at a discount, so I took advantage of the 10% price reduction to maximize low end frequencies for our Bose Model II system. The product functions as advertised; so with Musician's Friend "price match" guarantee (which in this specific instance included 50% of the price differential in a e-coupon to be redeemed in the future) AND sweetened with a 12 mos. same as cash payment schedule using my MF platinum card, the lengths to which the company consistently goes to facilitate ownership of these high-end products is, for me, the most laudable aspect of this purchase. This translates into a significant savings even without mentioning free shipping and not (currently) having to add any sales tax.

Comments about Bose B2 Bass Module:

I've been an L1 user since 2003, and am now an Independent Product Referal Specialist for the Bose L1 family of products. I am not a highly technical person and the following "opinions" are simply what my ears tell me.

A single B2 offers simulation of 1, 2, or 4-B1s with a single L1 Model II or Model 1S system. It's 3-Position switch lets you pick how much bass you want, and it really works. "Normal" is similar to 2-B1s, yet goes lower, sounds fuller, more old school. "+" setting is much like 4-B1s. You might not notice a huge change on stage, but in the audience, it carries further. The "-" setting is supposed to be a single B1, yet, again, it's a bit more, in a good way.

With all three settings you can turn up the bass EQ and get much more...it's a real winner.
One B2 is much handier than having to decide how many B1s to bring to the gig, this gives you all the options.

NOTE: the 3-position switch has NO affect on the B2s output when used with a Classic or Model I system, although it still sounds more powerful than 2-B1s. This sub is intended for Model II and Model 1S.

I have set up my Bose Compact system with a Rolls SX21 crossover, the Bose A1 Packlite Amp, and the B2, and it sounded really good, great bass, but again, the switches are disabled, you only get the Normal power level. (search the keywords on Youtube for a video of that experiment).

IF there is a downside to the B2, it's that you can overdo it and ruin your sound. Bose has tried to keep you from doing that up until now. Personally, I like that they've given us the choice to make a Bose system sound bad if we want to. Now I only hope that people can be smart about their sound.

It's much like when Bose added on-board effects to it's systems with the T1 Tonematch (mixer). Up until then, Bose suggested performing cleanly, without effects and let the room provide the reverb. I experienced those "dry" years, and learned much, and grew to appreciate the cleanliness. Now, I also find times when the effects can be quite useful, and it's nice to have that option. I don't overdo it, and many I have heard DO, but again, at least there is a freedom of choice.

The B2's weight at 43# is heavy for me, I'm 59. But having used it out live now, it's hard to go back to B1s. Although I can pretty easily carry it "across my chest" with the two built-in handles, I use a light weight handcart instead.

      Model II owners...buy a B2, you won't be sorry.
Classic & Model I owners...even though it hasn't the full funtionality, it is still an interesting addition to your system.

I gave only 4 stars in my rating because I had hoped Bose would give us a powered sub with a built in crossover instead of this. But on the positive side, it's nice to get this great of an upgrade to the Model II for this low price. It is also very nice for those of us who already own the Bose A1 Packlite amp, and can now use the combination with varying systems.

All in all, I love the B2.

Comments about Bose B2 Bass Module:

I have two of the L1 Model II systems and had 8 of the B1 Bass Modules and the one thing I didn't like was I had to carry so many speakers to get the sound I needed. Well Bose has listened and made a larger cabinet (with larger drivers) that is manageable for one person to carry and you don't need to take 8 with you to get the low end powerful sound you need for a dance crowd. I use four of these with two L1s and all I can say is you've got to hear it to believe it! They are definitely a step up from the B1 for those Bose fans who wanted more bass output.

Comments about Bose B2 Bass Module:

I wanted to be impressed. I tried the + setting, maybe it should be next to a wall. I'll bring my own familiar test ipod song next time. The T1 was updated. So Later I went home and took my B1s off CL. I'll eventually buy-to-try, but I'm sadly not in a hurry now.
