Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA22H 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I only use tube amps. I've tried a couple of solid state amps and I could never get into them. This amp is amazing and when you consider the price it is mind boggling. The description says it is related to the JCA20H and I don't believe that. The JCA20H would do an OK clean and the gain was fizzy. This amp hates clean. This amp wants to go play in the mud, drink beer and have a good time. Flip on the overdrive channel and this amp wants to do hard drugs and kill small animals.

I do wish the gain knobs weren't so sensative. It would be nice to dial in a little crunch and then a little more. You can pull back on your guitar's output a bit and then you get more shades of grey with the gain on the JCA22H but I'm a simple player that leaves my guitar's volume up all of the time.

I payed just less than 3 bills for it but I think it's a steal at 4 too.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA22H 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

First, the picture on MFs web site show the old version of the amp. The current version looks better - it is all black and the 333 logo is gone. There are many things I like about this amp - great tone (mainly the overdirve channel), good build quality (especially considerng the price). It is possible to get clean(ish) tones if you keep the gain pretty low on the "normal" channel, but the headrood is pretty limited. For comparison, 6505 rythm channel can yeald better cleans that this one. It help to play with volume set to about 70% on both channels. Another thing I found is this amp is pretty bright and the presence control must be used with care. V1 and V2 are behind one of the transformers, which makes is a bit chalendging to replace them. When using only true-bypass in the loop you can get a pop or two initially, so it helps to cycle the channels while the amp is on standby. All things considered, this is a great amp.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA22H 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This amp is plenty loud for professional stage use. It's "crunch" channel can be tailored for use as a clean channel with plenty of head room, with the overdrive channel as your std. dirty channel. I am impressed with the variability of good tones in between clean and totally saturated, and would like to see a three or possibly four channel model in the future. I've had no problems dialing in the clean-volume to dirty-volume for live use, and should be a breeze to record as well. Although the stock Chinese tubes are a little thin sounding (as to be expected), less than a hundred will get you a full bank of warmer, fuller tubes to compliment this amps design. For the price, I don't know how you could beat this little amp. Two thumbs up!

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA22H 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Got this baby last week. It was boxed really well, cradled in white spongy foam. Has a bold sound which is kind of unique. The fit and finish is really good, and the cabinet material is very good. The cabinet is excessively big for a 20 watt head though. This amp is really easy to use as it doesn't have too many knobs and switches. For someone starting out and wants a good sound this is all you will need.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA22H 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I'm one of those older guys who always had tube amps back in the 70's and I was always trying to find some solid state amp that could recreate that warm natural tone and distortion. I just wasn't willing to pay thousands for that sound. this is by far the best amp I've heard for the sound I have been searching for. The price is incredible. I can get all I want out of the crunch channel but it you want to blow someones head off or make your dog run for the door you always have the overdrive channel. My only concern would be quality (will it last?) but I guess for this price it won't be the end of the world if it blows up. I did have to re-seat the tubes because when I turned up the volume the sound kept cutting down but one of the tubes had just become loose during shipping. If your looking for that natural distortion just by turning up the volume for a cheap price this is a great amp.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA22H 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I was really floored the first time I heard this amp. Having owned a '79 Marshall 50 Watt JMP Head, a JCM 800 Head, JCM 900 Head, JMP-1 Preamp and a First Generation 5150 Head, I can say guitarists have never had it so good with the JCA22h. The beauty of this amp is it's simplicity, it takes no time to get great tones out of this amp. Even just leaving the bass, treble and mid at noon sounds good and is a great starting point for dialing in your tone. My question was, is it loud enough for shows? And the answer is yes, this amp cooks and at 4 you can really hear how good this amp sounds. More gain than I need, I keep it at about 6, anymore than that and it sounds compressed. 2 awesome channels with three basic sounds: Clean, Crunchy and Hot SLO like Sound. I parted with a Marshall preamp for this baby and I have no regrets. It's good simple, analog driven tube tone. Run it through a 4x12 with celestions and you can really push some air. What's crazy is the price for this amp, it's a steal and you'll want to throw out your junky digital pedals because you dont want anything interfering with this tone machine. I run analog pedals through the awesome effects loop and it's quiet. Don't hesitate, these amps will go up in price.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA22H 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

The only thing this head dosen't do well is, super clean. With that said I love the clean sound on this amp. The first channel can do it all with your guitars volume pot. Then the second channel is there for over the top super fun to play. I've had a million high priced amps and they're cool for impressing people but really not needed any more this amp is fantastic on gigs(I'm in a three pieace clasic rock blue band) and great for lower volumes at home. If you're a marshall guy you'll love this little crunch monster.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JCA22H 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This amp sounds sweet out of the box. It's a little too wide to fit on an upright 212 cab and needs reverb. I recovered mine to resemble my long gone SLO 100 done with python skin. I run an old Alesis reberb through the loop and a wah on the front end. I couldn't be happier with the tone. The clean ch. breaks up nicely when pushed and both channels are attack sensitive and responsive. Six amps to choose from at home and this one gets the nod nine times out of ten. 22 watts are adequate for smaller venues. Mic up a cab when you are in larger spaces.

Pure tone. Very versitile. Some may complain that there isn't much clean headroom, but hey, it's a 20 watt tube amp with plenty of tone and thats why I purchased it! I don't know how else to put it. Hours upon hours of tweaking and jamming have put me to this conclusion... This has been the best thing that has happened to my tone in 15 years! Very inspiring to plug into this amp.
