It's a great plugin and a life saver for quick fixes on vocal tracks. Being the 'Essential' package, you're missing out on a lot of great features that you'd want as a producer, but overall it's worth the money. Like most any pitch correction, it's very important to make sure nothing bleeds into the vocal recording. The slightest bleed from your studio headphones will cause a pitch correction change to be noticeable because it not only changes your vocals, it bends any other sound produced in the recording. With proper isolation and a little bit of playing around with it, you'll love having it. Just don't depend on it too much!

The value cost is more than reasonable, it has very useful fearures, but being able to only handle non stereo files and one track at a time,is a huge drawback for me, having used the Melodyne CRE 8 studio. But it is great for someone on a budget, melodyne products are very well designed, and easy to use. I own both Anatares and Melodyen products.

    Comments about Celemony Melodyne essential:

I researched this software and watched the online demos before buying. The sale price was too much for me to resist. I emailed the company after noticing it's compatibility with ACID PRO was in question. Celemony was very quick to respond with the answers to my questions (about an hour). It only works in Stand Alone mode and will not work as a plug in for any version of Acid Pro. Check their website for your DAW's compatibility. That being said... I use it in Stand Alone mode and I imported a vocal track that needed to be fixed and the result was as expected....AWESOME! I only bought the Essential version but I can already see an upgrade to the more powerfull version in my future for deeper editing. It's easy to use and powerful! Get it!

    Comments about Celemony Melodyne essential:

Bought this product because it was half price and all the information I could find showed it to be a top of the line product. The product does exactly what it claims and I have no faults I can find with it yet.

The unfortunate thing is that at the "essentials" level you can only move note blobs. I was hoping to be able to adjust vibrato and smooth notes but that is in the second level license. I also found that without an obscure workaround the program does not want to play well as a plugin for Acid Pro 7.

The drawbacks are due to my lack of FULL research on all the options of the product itself and not on the product's abilites.

To sum it up, this is an outstanding product, but make sure that you are purschasing the version you need, and that it will work with your recording software.

I would highly recommend this product!

      Comments about Celemony Melodyne essential:

Pitch correction is very musical and of high quality. A lot can be adjusted, although this is a very basic version. The upgrades prices are reasonable. Software is pretty easy to use and compared to the included pitch correction interface is Cubase 6, Melodyne sounds worlds better. Definitely worth the investment IMO.

        Comments about Celemony Melodyne essential:

This version of Melodyne is much easier to use than the older Studio version I have used prior. Plus this version works as a plug-in with my Sonar Producer. I do rough tracks in Sonar to get ideas down then use this product to get the vocals in pitch for my other musician friends to listen to. Then we tear it all apart to rebuild it with professional musicians.

          It's essential.

          Comments about Celemony Melodyne essential:

Some Sonar X1d users might experience difficulty quick bouncing Melodyne tracks. Some can bounce in real time and some can't render at all. It's a sporadic problem with Sonar's handling of time/sync based effects and I'm sure Cakewalk is addressing the issue. I'd suggest trying the demo first. I can happily report that mine works perfectly.
This is the essential version. It doesn't have a lot of features. It does single track and monophonic pitch and timing correction. You can upgrade for a discount.
I came a little late to the Melodyne party using Autotune and V-Vocal when needed. Melodyne sounds a bit more natural and is really easy to use. Even though those two other programs have many more features than my essential version, I find myself using Melodyne.
I bought it as a Stupid Deal of The Day. It was a no-brainer. I'll likely purchase at least the next level upgrade.
