Some things you need to know

By

from Baton Rouge, LA

Comments about Shure PSM 200 Wired Personal Monitoring System with SE215 Earphones:

I am a part time performer at clubs and parties. I had rigged up a wired system with a cheap set of earbuds plugged into my monitor out jack, but I wanted to go wireless, so I tried the PSM200. First off, do not connect it the way they tell you to - running your microphone cable through the unit before getting to your PA. You will lose considerable volume. It worked best for me running a line from the monitor jack into the PSM. The overall sound quality is acceptable but no better than the system I had rigged up. However, these expensive earphones that come up with it are awful. They're designed to be pliable so they can fit all different sizes and shapes of ears and heads, but in reality this makes them much harder to use. In spite of all of Shure's advice and videos and with a sincere effort on my part, in concluded that this device is not good. Moreover, the receiver is a battery hog. In the end I realized that I paid an arm and a leg to untether myself from my PA whereupon I now had to put up with a pair of awful earphones. All in all, this was a bad experience. I did not buy it at MF but the seller took it back. Just wanted you MF fans to know of my experience. Unless you dance around like Jagger you can rig up a simple wired system that works really well.

Comments about Shure PSM 200 Wired Personal Monitoring System with SE215 Earphones:

a good place to start with in ear monitoring and a good value.
entry level wireless. can't get seperate mix per player via wireless. can hardwire additional signal along with wireless mix.
built well. never had a problem with interference or getting a wireless signal. my band has used them for several gigs/practice sessions with no problems/issues yet.
pretty good for the money. spend more - get more features.
