Five stars as a low price beginner instrument.

I bought this for my son to learn on in school band. I have other saxophones to compare it. This was a good instrument for my son. It plays consistently throughout the range, feels solid, intonation is good. Price was on par with renting for a year, and quality is acceptible.

It already survived a drop. I had to adjust the octave key slightly afterwards, and now has a dent. Construction seems solid.

The case feels light and cheap.

Seems on par with the Bundy II I learned on. Keywork is probably a little better, and metal seems a little thicker.

I bought this instrument primarily based on reviews here and for it's low price. Intended to be used as a band instrument for my 10 yr old. Took it to his music teacher and was told buttons/keys bent and made of low quality metal. The sound was also of poor tonal quality also. So along with its defects its plain and simple...junk. I have been a MF customer for a very very long time and this is the first time this has happened. Will continue to buy from them, but the reviews, which I normally consider when buying from here mislead me this time. In my opinion, if you cant afford a higher quality sax for student use, just rent one.

Purchased a used instrument. It was sealed in a box with "inspected" tape. It arrived in unplayable condition. I took it to a local repair shop. They recommended to return it as it needed a lot of repairs. I did. I had purchased 2 new instruments previously & was satisfied but this one was unacceptable.

Purchased for a 13 yr old clarinetist who was asked to learn alto sax for school marching band. Were a bit leery about a sax at this price point, but since it was for marching band - gave it a try. So happy that we did. Impressive looking instrument and was able to play it out of the case and fluently from a lesson book at second try. Easy to play and produces a very pleasant, warm sound. Surprised how this novice can get such a good tone. Case is nicely constructed. Did have to buy a more comfortable neck strap, and no swab or cork grease is included. Student is very pleased, enjoying it and practicing often. Don't let the bargain price stop you from trying out this sax for a student player. So far, very pleased with the purchase.

My Saxophone player friend recommended this and my other saxophone player friend tested it when we received it. They both said this was a good saxophone. My daughter loves that it is brand new (instead of a rental) and there is a beautiful flower etched on the horn. I bought the maintenance plan in case it breaks which was my biggest worry. We have only had it for a week and she is a beginner but so far so good!

The Sax looked great, new, and hardley a mark, but....it had 4 valve rods that were bent and the springs were disconnected. How it got through QC is beyond me, other than, there is no QC. I have yet to return the thing, but will report on the replacement when I do. Hopefully this was a one off...but I doubt it.

Good quality construction, feels comfortable to hold, looks pretty good, but was a bit difficult to play with its mouthpiece.Tone quality of notes not as expected. This horn is good for young beginner student, but no one else.I played tenor and alto sax but quit 25 years ago.Getting back into it.Sound could be better. Thus 3 stars only.Case extras all fine. Can recommend for 14, year old, first timer.
