Comments about Bari Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
I purchased this brand of reed for my alto, bari, and tenor sax. The response on these reeds is amazing! Like many other reviews have said, squeaking is in its nature. Altough that is mainly a player issue. I play on a "hard" reed, which is like 4-4.5 for a normal cane reed. It lasts an incredibly long time and will always create a bright, reedy sound. It is great for marching band as well as jazz, however it does not give a beautiful concert sound unless you can really manipulate it. Overall this is a great bang for your buck and it will not dissapoint you! One more thing, unless you have lungs of steel, stick to a "soft" or "medium" size.
Comments about Bari Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
It's just a great practice reed, minus a few!I bought the soft version of this reed, thinking I could have something similar to #2-2.5 , however this reed is harder than a 3.5 wooden reed. It's hard to play, and not recommended for beginners. The top of the reed is shiny polished which makes for easier squeeking, however I am a beginner tenor sax player(play for ~1-2months), and haven't had many squeeks yet.It seems more durable than other plastic reeds, the surface for the lip has a slightly sanded feeling to it, the reed is transparent plastic, not gray metallic looking like on the pic.It is pretty loud too, bout twice as loud as my wooden 2,5 reed.It looks like it's going to last me quite a long time! I'm happy with the purchase, but wished their soft reeds where a bit more soft.It sounds like the sax has an added bite in the mid section (1kHz) with this reed compared to wooden reeds.I have 2 of them, and both sound exactly the same.exactly the same make, same dimensions, same sound.
Comments about Bari Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
I've used a Bari tenor sax reed for some time and can't seem to wear it out. The sound is comparable to the premium cane reeds I've been using. No reed changes in the middle of a set; I like that.
