Bari is the top-of-the-line brand for synthetic reeds. Synthetic reeds will usually last several times longer than traditional reeds. They can still be chipped or cracked, but they will not wear out like traditional cane. The reeds are formatted to sound as similar to cane reeds as possible, but there is a slight difference.

Comments about Bari Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:

Used this reed for years-have tried them all and this is the best for me-as with any reed, don't bend the tip-can be sanded also.

    wow!

    By julian orem

Comments about Bari Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:

I purchased this brand of reed for my alto, bari, and tenor sax. The response on these reeds is amazing! Like many other reviews have said, squeaking is in its nature. Altough that is mainly a player issue. I play on a "hard" reed, which is like 4-4.5 for a normal cane reed. It lasts an incredibly long time and will always create a bright, reedy sound. It is great for marching band as well as jazz, however it does not give a beautiful concert sound unless you can really manipulate it. Overall this is a great bang for your buck and it will not dissapoint you! One more thing, unless you have lungs of steel, stick to a "soft" or "medium" size.

Comments about Bari Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:

I've used a Bari tenor sax reed for some time and can't seem to wear it out. The sound is comparable to the premium cane reeds I've been using. No reed changes in the middle of a set; I like that.

    Pretty hard reed!

Comments about Bari Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:

It's just a great practice reed, minus a few!I bought the soft version of this reed, thinking I could have something similar to #2-2.5 , however this reed is harder than a 3.5 wooden reed. It's hard to play, and not recommended for beginners. The top of the reed is shiny polished which makes for easier squeeking, however I am a beginner tenor sax player(play for ~1-2months), and haven't had many squeeks yet.It seems more durable than other plastic reeds, the surface for the lip has a slightly sanded feeling to it, the reed is transparent plastic, not gray metallic looking like on the pic.It is pretty loud too, bout twice as loud as my wooden 2,5 reed.It looks like it's going to last me quite a long time! I'm happy with the purchase, but wished their soft reeds where a bit more soft.It sounds like the sax has an added bite in the mid section (1kHz) with this reed compared to wooden reeds.I have 2 of them, and both sound exactly the same.exactly the same make, same dimensions, same sound.

    A flawless product

Comments about Bari Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:

After years of many kinds and types of saxophone reeds, I have found the Bari reed the best of most of the plastic reeds. With good care it will last indefinitely, although I have actually worn some out over years of use. The soft size is my preference. It is a good combination for my 6* Otto Link, however it usually takes some dressing down, as you must do to most reeds, so that it will play in a perfect and flawless way.

Comments about Bari Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:

I play in a church band. I like the synthetic reed for it's durability & because I can put in on my mouthpiece & play immediately without having to soak it first. Low notes are easier to play with this reed. It does seem to vibrate in my mouth more than the bamboo reeds making it harder to play for longer sessions. I would recommend it for the experienced player.

Comments about Bari Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:

i couldn't seem to produce sound as easily from this as with natural reeds. so i gave up on it after about a half hour and just tossed it out. it's hard enough learning a new instrument without any added challenges.
