Comments about Fibracell Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
If you are in need of a reed that doesn't wear out, Fibracell's it. It gave my tenor a jazzy sound and easier access to altissimo ranges.

Comments about Fibracell Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
Very nice reeds! My "go to reed" on Tenor. Replaced BARI* and cane reeds I was using, as well as the more expensive Carbon Toptones!
Comments about Fibracell Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
This #3 is softer than other reeds of the same number. I have also noticed that I am not getting as clear a tone and previously with reeds from this manufacturer (they were rated "medium soft"). It is somewhat baffling to me, but I still prefer them to wood and most definitely prefer them to the other synthetic reeds I've tried.
Comments about Fibracell Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
It doesn't wear out- well, not like a wood reed- the sound is reliably amazing. No cracks, so way fewer squeaks. No soaking- ready to go when you pull the horn out, and no mold (eeew a wind player's dark secret). I don't miss trying to break in a reed that won't go, or running out of backups. Having TWO fiber cells is practically a life insurance plan

Its a huge improvement in a wind player's life, at very little cost.
Comments about Fibracell Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
I opened the little box, put the reed in my mouth for MAYBE 5 seconds and then put it on the horn. Shortly after I got the best tone I've ever had on the saxophone. This reed will not disappoint. I love this and am reccommending it to anybody I can.
Comments about Fibracell Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
Like in my previous review, I was so happy with them, that I bought a second lot of reeds from fibracell. The tenor reeds sound awesome, and in fact the #4,5 I received sounds even better than the #3 I was using before! In fact, I've noticed that the higher the number, the better the sound is.#4.5 gives way more bottom push on the tenor, #1.5 is shallow and sharp sounding, and only minimal softer in volume, something most musicians won't even notice.I found fibracell to be the best in the larger reeds, and the higher numbers. The difference between a #1.5 and a #4.5 reed in playing was nearly identical on my sax. Perhaps there is the sensation that #4.5 feels thicker, but they largely feel the same. This also supports my other review on the fibracell Soprano reeds I bought, they sound plasticky, and shallow (sharp), and not very nice.On my soprano, I prefer real reeds. On the tenor and alto, I'd suggest #4.5 or 5 reeds if you want some push in the lower end on a plastic reed.My overall conclusion is I will not buy the soprano versions of this. But I will the tenor and alto ones!
Comments about Fibracell Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
Like other reviewers, I wish there were 1/4 sizes.I'm stuck between 3 and 3 1/2, kinda frustrating.Despite which I buy them religiously - 10 yrs now.The quality and predictability have improved, although they'll always be a bad one from time to time.
Comments about Fibracell Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
It's near to impossible to distinguish this reed from a real wooden one.The only way on the back it has a shiny polished side, which if you lick it, you'll notice the material is plastic, not wood (wood would absorb saliva). The reed not only looks like a wooden one, it sounds just like one too! Much better than the bari reeds! It seems a little less durable than the bari reeds, but then again, it's not made out of pure plastic, but if I'm right has wood fiber in it.It's by far the most expensive reed I've ever bought, but it looks like it will outlast a standard reed (due to the material not turning into a waved surface when keeping it in a box)
Comments about Fibracell Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed:
I have been playing professionally for over 40 years. I tell every sax player I know about these reeds. The comment about 1/4 strengths is valid as the reeds are a bit off normal strengths. HOWEVER, the playability is amazing. They are solid all the way through the horn. I switch sometimes from guitar to sax for a solo and back to guitar a lot. Sometimes there is a good hour or two before I touch the horn. These reeds are completely reliable. Every single one of them. I would suggest buying one of each strength to test which is best for you. I landed on a 3 which is a touch stiffer than a "real" 3. I have not played a cane reed for 3 to 4 years after I found these. Two thumbs up!
