Comments about GCR FOR I CODE Carbon Fiberreed Alto Saxophone Reed:
I'm relatively new at playing the saxophone, but I can already say that this reed has been much easier to play than the Rico 2 orange box reeds I was using before. Without any warm-up, I can easily play a low B flat or a high D (farthest up I've learned so far), which was previously VERY difficult for me. The sound is a little more flexible than my old cane reeds, so it requires more control to hold a note steadily. I'm using the medium-soft version of this reed, and although it's very close to the level 2 Ricos I was using before, it does feel just a little bit softer. The sound of the reed is excellent in my opinion, and it has a nice, bright tone. I think my only complaints are that this one reed was the same cost as an entire box of 10, and it doesn't come with any sort of protective case or slip to be stored in. But overall, I would highly recommend this as a choice for any saxophone player, new or experienced.
Comments about GCR FOR I CODE Carbon Fiberreed Alto Saxophone Reed:
this reed sounds EXACTLY like a cane reed. it doesn't buzz like the Bari brand plastic reeds and this one is very natural sounding and feels like a natural reed. No squeaks, no chirps and no need to moist and warm up like traditional reeds. it played like a warm up reed from package to the mouthpiece.it's easy to clean, doesn't warp, and best of all, resistant to breaking and splitting.by the way, some people complain of these being too "flexible" as in not stiff enough.based on the harry hartmann website, the sizes actually have numbers. Soft is size 1, medium soft is size 2, medium is size 2.5 hard is size 3. I got medium which plays exactly like a size 2.5 cane reed. except you have to issues with this. harry hartmann created the best reed for players who are tired of purchasing a box od 20 reed and only finding a few good ones that work while breaking reeds and having warping issues.it doesn;t stink from your spit since it slides right off.this is great for people who play alot of outdoor gigs or play in humid places where people smoke and etc etc. and also who play more than one instrument like me, (I switch to guitar during sets and these are ready to go when I am).no need to do warm up songs when I switch. You will not be disappointed.
Comments about GCR FOR I CODE Carbon Fiberreed Alto Saxophone Reed:
I was looking for a good plastic reed when I came upon this reed. Ture, it cost more than the others, but your altissimos will pop like you will not believe. Other sax players will ask you " what's your secret". You have to play it to believe it
