Long considered a less than average brand name the Jupiter horn suprised me with it's nice projection and tone in the altissimo and in the bottom end of the horn, and acute key action. It's a very pretty horn and it's a good portable horn for a working musician. Unfortunately I have had many problems with it. I've replaced the cork on the neck piece severall times and the f key clanks because after a year or so a cork fell out. It's very difficult to keep it clean because it is silver and it makes an extra hassle to clean before every gig espicially when you have multiple gigs on the same weekend. However, when I tried a Cannonball Big Bell Global series I noticed the Jupiter was much better in the upper register but it didn't stand a chance to a Selmer Referance or Mark 1V (DUH!) But all in all I have enjoyed this horn and have achieved a lot with it.

Eh.

It's no lie, the saxophone is a sharp looking saxophone. The pictures do it no honesty, but if you want a professional looking saxophone, then this is the one, but i wouldn't be sure if i'de call it an artist's saxophone. It has good intonation, and i the keywork is nice, but, the lable of proffesional is a little to far. good for a student, not much else.

Just a great horn!

I've played on Selmer MK VIs all of my career. Compaired the Jupiter to the pro models of Yamaha and Keilwerth and just liked the sound of the Jupiter over them.

Looks Nice Plays Okay

By Saxkidd89

This sax looks nice, but it has a cheap factory mouthpiece. If you want a nice sound out of it, you need to buy a better mouthpice. Otherwise this is a good saxophone.

Good but not the best

By 5J5

It's a great sax. can't compete with a selmer mk 5 or 6, but it's a great sax for those who can't afford a high-end selmer.

Jupiter Artist Is Okay

By TruFusionSaxman

from VA Beach, VA

See all my reviews

I'm a working musician, so I have no time for a horn that will break down on with all the time I put on it. I've owned the Jupiter Artist for a year now and have few complaints. The stock cork and mouthpiece suck. The cork WILL wear out in a matter of months (with or without grease) and the mouthpiece is a personal preference. The metal is thin around the bell brace, and the low C key's laquer will probably wear off of yours, too. But if you're into cleaning it all the time and putting a little cash into it; it's still cheaper than a Selmer and will produce a great sound from top to bottom!

Great saxophone!

By ll2LH_2Y0

This sax is beautiful and plays like a dream for an excellent price. I had looked around for weeks for the cheapest price offered for this sax and this site is the lowest. I have not used many different saxes in my life but this seems to be one of the best for its outstanding value. Comes with cap, shining cloth, cork grease, neck strap, reed, mouthpiece, and ligature.
