Comments about Meyer Hard Rubber Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

Even though this is not a prized New York model Meyer it none the less is one of the best mouthpieces I have tried recently. And this is comparing to very high priced mouthpieces. Easy blowing, open, perfect for students to pro players. The one negative is the cheap unusable ligature.

Another very good Alto mouthpiece. I also bought and prefer the Jody Jazz but that is just my preference. They are both very good.

Unless the one I got was defective, nothing but squeaks. There was a HUGE gap (space) between reed and mouthpiece at the tip.

Comments about Meyer Hard Rubber Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

A very playable mouthpiece for anyone looking for an edgy and loud blues/jazzy sound. I bought 7 large with a medium face length. This is not an inexpensive mouthpiece, it's made by jj babitt and is very high quality. Call MF and ask to speak with someone who is in the woodwind department with sax experience.

      wHIMPY TO SOLIST !

Comments about Meyer Hard Rubber Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

Arguably the best sax piece value on the site!
I OWN a guitar shop and am an ex Pro trumpet player so take this with a grain of salt.
BUT, I purchase this a year ago or so for my son who plays technically very well but was having trouble getting a bigger sound. He was playing a stock mouthpiece that came with his Vito alto.

Anyway, he ties this with a Vandoren 2.5-3.0 and the difference in his tone went to large and medium dark practically overnight. In fact the sections he plays with were asking him to back off in order not to dominate. His high school band director almost immediately asked him to solo on a few numbers in concert! NOW THAT'S A CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.

When inquiring with my colleuges in the business, all the sax players agreed that this piece was definately the right step from student to first "Pro" quality and performance. It even served to renew his somewhat waining interest in the horn, and put a planned upgrade [horn] on the back burner.

SO, if you're experiencing similar issues, from what I know, you can not go wrong with this purchase.

      Great MPC

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Meyer Hard Rubber Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I got the Meyer 6M Medium chamber for my 1912 Holton, and I now play a Yamaha YAS-61. It works great and I highly advice it to other players, especially if you don't want to try lots of MPSs. It has not got a lot of resistance and plays well right out of box. For players who prefer brighter sound I recommend the medium or prolly the small chamber. I wish I had gone with the small chamber. It has no baffle so none of these MPCs should really make your ears bleed. ...anyway it is a very safe piece that will definitely get ya going in the right direction. HAPPY SHREDDING :)
