I've used various Neotech straps since they first came out, and have always been quite satisfied. Since the soft straps I currently own were getting a bit raggedy, I decided to get some new ones. I got one a couple months ago, but was very disappointed in the poor quality of the material, it was very stiff & very uncomfortable on my neck. It also had very little spring & cushioning, which was their original concept & selling point.
When I called the company, they said it must have been defective, a lemon, so I sent it back.. I ordered another last week, and when it came, it was still not satisfactory. I brought it to my gig, thinking I'd use it tonight, but it was uncomfortable, not cushiony, & looked ridiculous, as it just stuck out on both sides, the stiffness preventing it from laying down....

I play several evenings a week at least, having played tenor sax in rock bands for over 35 years. I wanted to check out the new "soft" version of my trusty neotech classic which I've used for over 10 years. The soft version is even more comfortable with more stretch and bounce than the classic. The wider foam distributes the weight nicely.I cannot fault it except for one thing. After several months of use, the nylon backing that separates the foam from the back of my neck is coming off. Unlike the classic version, it is just glued on. The classic's covering is sown around the foam, but this one is just glued on like a sandwich, with the load bearing strap sown onto the middle. Where the nylon backing hits my neck, it is now just raw foam against my neck and the backing is scrunched up in a bunch. It is not that annoying and still works fine for me, but I don't like the raw foam on my neck. Also, after a few months the additional support provided by the wider foam has lessened as the foam became weaker. It is no longer more comfortable than my classic strap. I would like to see a neotech version as comfortable as this one is initially but built to last. For the price it's still a good deal and still more comfortable than most other brand straps, but I suspect the classic is a better long term deal. Rock on!
