P. Mauriat

A custom model for artists looking for a sound with real personality.

PMXT-66R Series Tenor Saxophones incorporate P. Mauriat's unique rolling process which fully utilizes the saxophone's existing material. Unlike rolled toneholes of the past, there is no soldering here, the toneholes are drawn from the body and then rolled over allowing superior resonance throughout the entire saxophone and increased response in all ranges. The PMXT-66R also has an enlarged bell that lets the warm, fat sound of this exceptional horn really cut through an ensemble. This professional class instrument also features a Super VI style neck, abalone key touches, and hand engraving on the bell and bow.

PMXt-66R Series Tenor Saxophones are available in four unique finishes: vintage dark lacquer (DK), classic gold lacquer (GL), cognac lacquer (CL) , and raw brass (UL). Each lacquer lends a different color to the sound.

PMXT-66R DK – The vintage dark lacquer finish compliments the PMXA- 67R with a warm round sound players will fall in love with.

PMXT-66R GL – A gold lacquer finish has a slightly more brilliant tone than the vintage dark lacquer and offers players the classic look, feel, and response that one should expect of a professional saxophone.

PMXT-66R CL –Cognac lacquer gives the player a new and unique look and feel as well as free response. It's very uniform in all registers with the outstanding intonation quality.

PMXT-66R UL – Unfinished raw brass allows this sax to resonate freely. In addition, the absence of lacquer allows the brass to age over time, creating a unique vintage look and feel.

P. Mauriat is a leader in the industry as an innovator of modern vintage saxophones and trumpets. Each horn is handcrafted from start to finish out of the very finest materials. From fresh ideas in metal combinations, to cutting-edge neck designs and trendsetting finishes, P. Mauriat continually works to solidify their reputation for creating horns that offer the sound, response, ergonomics and intonation that will impress even the most demanding players.

Comments about P. Mauriat PMXT-66R Series Professional Tenor Saxophone:

Have played flute for 40 years or so and decided to learn tenor sax.
After just a day or so of owning this beautiful instrument(it is truly a work of art...dark laquer) was getting some amazing tones.Have had it for 2 months now and have replaced the mouthpiece that came with it with an Otto Link ToneMaster and am playing it on the stage regularly and the tone, quality of sound, and ease of play is just blowing me away.If you're looking for a sweet sounding Jazz sax, this may not be the horn for you but if you want a big, ballsy, blues sound at a fantastic price this tenor Rocks.

    An Amazing Tenor!

Comments about P. Mauriat PMXT-66R Series Professional Tenor Saxophone:

After playing flute professionally for many years, have finally jumped into seriously playing tenor sax.Have dabbled in playing sax (only alto) in the past so have the basic rudiments down but in just one weeks time, the tones and runs I am able to pull off on this instrument are truly amazing. As I said , haven't played much sax in the past but the quality, tone, and action with this instrument are just blowing me away. The horn (black laquer) has the look and tone of a classic tenor from the past (think Ray Charles).Everything about this horn including the case speaks quality. Will be checking out some different mouthpieces soon but the one that came with this horn works very well for my abilities at the time.If you're looking for a classic sounding tenor that really honks, this may be the one for you.
