I've played clarinet for almost 5 years now through performing arts schools. I have a Buffet E11 clarinet for everything else, but I use this for marching band. It's durable, and it plays alright. I would most definitely NOT recommend this for concert band or anything of the sort, but its very good for marching band, where i just need something cheap that'll hold together. It's not that bad, but i wouldn't get it if you are serious about clarinet and want to use this as your main instrument. its good for a side one.
This instrument is horrible. Anyone would have a difficult time playing this clarinet, due to poor key placement in the right hand and its tendency to "jump the octave" in the lower register. Please, do not waste your money. One of my students is using this clarinet and has aquired several bad habits trying to make it play. A better choice would be a Bundy, Selmer, Vito, or Yamaha. You will spend a little more money, but it is WELL worth it if you want your beginning clarinetist to succeed.
I am an elementary band director in PA, that is increasingly becoming frustrated w/ the rising cost of beginner instruments. My repairman bought me one of these instruments to try and I was amazed at the quality for so little a price. Plus I love the adjustable thumb rest. (I did replace the mouthpiece w/ a Hite Premiere mothpiece). I've played it in many different situations and it is a great buy for the money.
I ordered a clarinet for my niece for school. The product arrived broken. The band teacher couldn't even do anything with it. I called customer service and was told that they would have more in about 10 later. Too late! I needed it now. The customer service rep tried to push me to wait and I told her that I couldn't do it. I asked for a refund, was send the paper work to refund my money, then come to find out the lady put it in as a exchange anyway. Although on my paper work that they sent me to senb back with the clarinet was clearly as a refund, I was told when I called that they don't look at that. So it took me 2 1/2 weeks to get my refund because they had already send a replacement and "couldn't do anything" until I returned that one also. I even spoke with a supervisor, who's customer service skills were lacking just as much as the suctomer service rep. I finally received my refund but I promise that this place is too much of a hassle to ever use again. I spent more time on the phone with them then my neice spent playing her instrument. Very bad experience!
I got my clarinet and the keys were unsatisfactory and I am not very pleased with it. I am going to send the product back as soon as possible.
I bought this clarinet for my daughter and it works BEAUTIFULLY. She sounds like a pro already!!
