Comments about Pearl Flutes Elegante Coda 795 Series Flute:
I just hope the instrument holds up as well as my Yamaha has. There is nothing I dislike about it yet. As a doubler (from saxophone) I did not want to spend any more on a flute. This Pearl seems to fill the niche for a player like me who is quite serious but not $7000 serious. It's really worth testing this model out.
I love the D# roller, the split E mechanism and the gold lip plate that comes with the coda series and the C# trill key. I have owned this flute just a few months and it is pushing me to play more diligently. My other flute is a Yamaha 581 which has served me well for over 20 years and I'm keeping it to use on gigs that don't require the nuances afforded me with the Pearl.
The quality of the manufacturing process seems quite impeccable---pads seal tightly and the action is so smooth and quick it feels "broken in". The headjoint tenon seemed very slightly out of round but now I'm being picky. I do love the ease of blowing on the Forza headjoint and it is a beautiful looking instrument so I am trying to keep it clean and ding free.
I play a $7000 muramatsu and I want to play my Pearl more. Friends with Powells and Haynes are loving this instrument and express the same surprise with the "feel" of the key action and overall responsiveness. In this price range, it may be hard to beat.
Comments about Pearl Flutes Elegante Coda 795 Series Flute:
I just got this flute yesterday so I wanted to give an initial impression and then a follow-up at a later date. With so few reviews on this model I bought it on faith never having tried it before. It responded immediately to anything you put in. I am mostly a jazz saxophonist with good doubling chops for flute. My current flute has been a yamaha 581 which I've used quite a long time. The Elegante seems to have quick action, nice headjoint (Forza) and very easy blowing.I love the gold lip plate. The split E action is amazing--no breaking up on hight E. The C# trill seems very cool as an extra feature. Case is beautiful and a real nice cover to boot. The Eb rolloer is nice--distance to low C cluster is a little further than my Yamaha so you do have to reach a bit. Right now I'm concerned with how sharp the high E is relative to the harmonic overtone E from playing low C. Don't know if it's an inherent problem for Pearls or just mine. Will continue to experiment. I am getting a lot of power in the high range and the lows seems to speak well. Had also used a Murumatsu AD previously and this Pearl feels just as responsive or more so. Will follow up at later date.
Comments about Pearl Flutes Elegante Coda 795 Series Flute:
One of my band mates came in with this flute and I was quite impressed with how it sounded. He let me play it and the overall feel of the instrument was solid, yet not too light. The Forza headjoint which ships with the flute is hand-finished, as opposed to completely hand-made Pearl headjoints such as the Calore. Still, it has a wonderful resonance and speaks easily in all registers. Truly a beautiful instrument.Technically this flute is considered semi-pro because it is not completely hand-made. Don't sweat it. The sound of this flute, in the hands of a practiced, capable musician, will knock the socks off of your audience.
Comments about Pearl Flutes Elegante Coda 795 Series Flute:
I tried an Elegante 795RBECODA flute at a flute fair while shopping for flutes for my top students and was quite impressed with the sound and feel of the Elegante. It has a very smooth and fast action and a big gorgeous sound compared to other flutes. The C# trill key is a really handy extra key and the foot rollers make it easy on the right hand pinky. The wood case is a nice touch. I can't get over how great this flute felt in my hands and the sound I could get out of it made heads turn in the aisle!
