The Pearl-105 piccolo employs composite Grenaditte. As this material is impervious to temperature and humidity, there is no danger of cracking and intonation is much more stable. It has a highwave style headjoint, French pointed arm keys, and pinless construction.

      GREAT Piccolo

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

Pearl's PFP-105E piccolo is no ordinary piccolo. I was really surprised that it is not made of wood by the way it plays. It's hard to get a piccolo for this price that plays almost like a pro horn. It's also nice to have this level of performance and not have to worry about the wood cracking! I'm so glad I tried the Pearl. I absolutely LOVE playing this piccolo.

      Very Good Piccolo

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

I have played flute and piccolo for 16 years and I think this is a great piccolo. It plays with fantastic ease. When I purchased this piccolo in a store I compared with everything from cheap plastic piccolos to $5,800+ wooden piccolos and this one was my favorite. It has a nice woody tone - more full than a plastic body and it doesn't pierce like an all metal piccolo. If you are considering wood, but think it is too pricey definitely consider this. It does not require all of the special care and is less sensitive to humidity than wood (a definite plus if this is for a student because wood, especially new, takes a LOT of time and care to break in). The only small negative I have is the cleaning rod and cloth that come with it. You will want to immediately buy a better one, but those are very cheap and should not influence your choice of instrument.
