Comments about Peter Ponzol Hard Rubber Vintage Tenor Sax Mouthpiece:
As one of the other reviews stated, It is versatile. It is the most "Reed Friendly" mouthpiece that I own. I took a reed that I was having a problem with on another mouthpiece and put it on the Ponzol, and it played wonderfully, perhaps because it has a gentler facing curve?? It seems that I get the best volume and projection by using a Java reed. I was able to adjust a La Voz reed by lightly sanding the edges (Sides)and this gave me a similar level of projection that I like with the Java. I've got a custom made piece that cost me twice what the Ponzol did, and doesn't sound as nice. Bottom line....Nice tone, reed friendly and versatile, and reasonably priced!! After having success with the Ponzol Hard Rubber, I may try one of their metal peices in the future.
