Comments about Protec Standard Alto Sax PRO PAC Case:

I got this to replace the old Bundy case that was holding my '30s Aristocrat alto. This case provides excellent protection for the sax, but in other areas it leaves something to be desired (namely space).
First, the neck slot is hopelessly small. My Aristocrat's neck has one of the vintage-style octave levers with a ring around the base of the neck, and it didn't even come close to fitting. Even a modern neck was so tight I wouldn't keep it there. The best thing is to get a padded bag and keep it in the bell.
Since the neck slot takes up half of what would be the accessory compartment, that is also tiny. You can barely get a neck strap in there, let alone anything else. I found the solution by simply cutting the staples holding the divider and removing it, and tearing out the pads from the neck slot. To make it look a little better I cut the lining off the pads and covered the ugly spots with it using contact cement. It's still pretty small, but it now holds what I need it to hold.
If that modification hadn't been possible, I wouldn't be able to use this case, but it wasn't very difficult and now that I've done it I am content with it.
