These do not seem to cause the bad (real bad) breath I get from cane reeds. I am thrilled with the ease of use, very satisfactory tone, and drability. I have played for more than forty years and these reeds encourage me to practice more.

I used to use Hemke Premium exclusively for years. Rico Plasticover Tenor Sax reeds play well and don't need to be wet. I am a lead singer and sax player. I need to be able to put down the horn to sing and then pick it back up without any time to wet my reed. I can pick up the horn, even in the dessert, and get a great tone. Don't try that with cane. Plasticover reeds feel more like cane than the purely plastic reeds I've tried. I can't get the nuances from plasticover as I can from pure cane, but for club playing they work well. Still use Hempke for concert band and classical playing, but for rock and jazz I use plasticover.
It is a plastic covered reed.

Worth the money
I just started using these reeds the other day and wow, these things are amazing. It amplifies the Tenor's sound so nicely. Not to mention that they are strong and durable. I use these both for concert and marching. I can't wait to try them out for jazz. If your thinking about trying these out, just give them a try. You wont regret it.

Ricos Plasticover reeds are some of the best that I've found. I played in a marching band and noticed how simple it is to not have to wet my reed before playing. I highly recomend them.

Big tenor sound. These are also very durable and last much longer than traditional reeds. Once you get used to the feel you won't go back to other reeds.
