    Good value for an inexpensive reed

    Comments about Rico Soprano Saxophone Reeds:

    I have been playing saxophone for 30 years and have tried many brands of reeds. For Alto, Tenor, and Baritone, I prefer Rico Royals although I do use the "orange box" reeds in a pinch. But for soprano playing I prefer the Orange Box. I seem to go through reeds much more quickly on Soprano compared to the others and that gets expensive. I found that even though they are "student quality" reeds, I get quite a few more "keepers" in a box of 25 than expected. The strength does vary some what but overall I do not have to sandpaper very many of them to get them to respond well and of course you will get a few duds but I have had that problem with more expensive reeds as well. They are a good value for the money and seem to word well in this particular application for me.
