Rovner Ligatures greatly improve reed playability. Reeds that are totally unplayable on other ligatures will often perform well with the Rovner. The ability of the Rovner Ligature to extend reed life is amazing. While more rigid ligatures actually hammer the cane fibers during vibration, eventually destroying the reed's tonal vibrancy, most players working with Rovner ligatures find their reeds play until the tips finally succumb to fatigue and fall apart.

Comments about Rovner Mark III Soprano Saxophone Ligature and Cap:

I've played with many different ligatures, but the Rovners are by far my favorites. I own a legacy, star series, and now this Mark III. I find I like the tone of the Mark III the best (adds more depth to my high-pitched soprano sax); however, the legacy offers more agility to the player. The star series tends to be more of a well-rounded ligature. My 10-year-old has just started learning sax and it's amazing how much a good ligature (he's playing with the SS) improves his tone and teaches him better control.
