Comments about Selmer Paris Reference 54 Alto Saxophone:

This saxophone is amazing. I have had many saxophones in my life, but this is the one dreams are made of, so I will never own another. When I purchased this horn, I tried 10 other professional saxophones and this one had the best tone and action by far. It has a darker sound than many other pro models. The altissimo range is much easier to access than on other horns. Padding around the G# sticks at times and the lack of lacquer causes water spots/premature wear, but I've had no problems otherwise. More than worth the price.

let me make this clear. I don't buy selmer instruments easily. i am newly retired. I wanted what i thought would be the best. To raise enough money to purchase the Selmer i sold 2 old guitars , 3 antique rifles, 2 rolex watches and all my Lionel trains ! It was worth it ! the sound is wonderful. I look foward to playing it every day.

Comments about Selmer Paris Reference 54 Alto Saxophone:

I own a Mark VI Tenor (my second one I've had). I've wanted a good alto for years, and this is it. A few sticky keys still and the supplied "D" mouthpiece didn't work for me. The case is VERY light weight (sucks). But it's a GREAT horn, especially for jazz. It will be a classic and should more than retain value. Intonation is very good, sound is great. Expensive, but worth it.

Comments about Selmer Paris Reference 54 Alto Saxophone:

I'm in my Concert Band in school and this is the Sax that I rent. By far the gretest Alto Sax there is. The one that use is really old (there isnt one bit of shine left on it) by it stills plays like heaven. Slemer knows how to make make good wind instraments. BUY THIS!!

Comments about Selmer Paris Reference 54 Alto Saxophone:

I use an original 1954 Slemer Mark IV Alto sax in school and it is the best Sax the world has ever seen. Great Tone is a starndard feature with this instrament; i use the "satock" (in other words cheapest) mouthpiece and I have no problem getting my teacher to compliment me on my tone. The High F# key is really a great feature.
