The Doctor's Products The "Legend" Clarinet Swab

Design elements and materials in woodwind swabs have improved little in the last hundred years and also their efficiency at removing moisture from the bores of woodwind instruments. This has all changed with aeronautical design software which can predict the best shape profile for a swab to give the most contact (ballooning principle) with the bore surface. The missing element, until now, has been a way to control the folding and compression characteristics of the swab as it enters the bore to avoid improper folding giving only "edge effect" contact with the bore. A chance meeting with a Japanese Shibori expert (Shibori is the revered ancient Asian art of folding fabric to form intricate patterns) resulted in a revolutionary solution. The Shibori expert showed me that addition of a carefully defined notch in the leading edge of the swab would cause it to assume the desired shape and complete contact of the silk with the surface of the bore. This Shibori notch (Pat. Applied for) produces superior contact of the "aerodynamic balloon form" custom silk used in the swab and allows complete moisture absorption with a single slow pass through the bore. The new Black "Legend" Swab takes swab technology into a new realm of effectiveness and ease of use with exclusive heavy quality charmeuse silk, anti-clog design, correctly sized and designed weight, and long braided nylon ribbon double stitched into the swab body. Look no further for the best swab on the market.

Comments about The Doctor's Products The "Legend" Clarinet Swab:

I had only every used the swab that comes with the student clarinet (which does not work very well). This swab is nice and big and so far it works nicely. (Have only used once). It has a nice heavyish weight on a long string and goes through the clarinet with just the right amount of resistance.

Comments about The Doctor's Products The "Legend" Clarinet Swab:

This is a huge swab! Not just in size but also in the way it functions!

First thing you notice is the weight is protected in what looks like rubber.

The next might be that once the string is through your horn the silk has only begun its journey. The swab part is as long as my Bb horn itself. Down and through it goes. Slick.

I never really thought of silk as something that would absorb moisture well. It seems to do fine. I've tested it by running an old swab through after and they come out dry.

And by they come out dry I mean I've been using it on my tenor saxophone as well. I've been dropping it in the small end of my tenor gooseneck. It gets through fine. Not only does it get through it has been one of my toughest places to dry out. It makes it through the body of the horn really loose but it still manages to grab up the condensation. That's the real test there. I've been running my old swabs through my horns later to test. Not only are they dry but also you really notice how they hang up.

I came back here looking for a bigger one for my tenor but I suppose it would be the size of a paracute!
