The updated version of the popular 62 series.

The YAS-62IIS Professional Alto Saxophone features a newly designed neck receiver that allows you to project a more even tone. A custom-style octave key was redesigned for a smoother and quicker response. A silicon treatment helps protect the leather pads from moisture. Comes with blue steel springs for faster, more sensitive key response and higher resiliency. Annealing—a process of heating and cooling—gives the metal optimum density for superior tone. An adjustable thumb rest allows for precise and comfortable hand and fingering positions. The position, height, angle, and shape of the left-hand pinky keys have been re-designed for comfort and response. With an emphasis on comfort and speed, the key shape has been designed to allow you to hold the saxophone in a more natural manner.

Comments about Yamaha YAS-62II Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

This sax is great for intermediate players. Students in junior high (6-8) should be satisfied. This sax has a dark tone and sounds good but has some severe pitch and tuning issues. Many notes are 10 cents or more sharp or flat. A better sax such as the yas-875ex is recommended for serious high school players and professionals.

Comments about Yamaha YAS-62II Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

I find this instrument great!! But I would also recommend using the mouthpiece that comes with the instrument to tune because I got a Meyer metal jazz muothpiece and it was hard to push it in to the saxophones tuning point. Overall the 62II has an awesome sound to it. When I put a bari brand synthetic reed on it it was perfect for jazz pieces because of its bright tone. I play for a band and I can't wait to use it for my next concert.

    One HOT Sax!!

    By SaxMan93

Comments about Yamaha YAS-62II Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

I recently bought this sax on reccommendation from my college teacher, as I'm majoring in music performance. I was BLOWN away!! I normally stick to Bari sax, since I like the amount of depth it adds to the sound, but this little guy packs a punch!! I can get just about as much volume from this horn as any other professional horn I've tried, even high-dollar custom horns. This is the sax to get!!

    One mean Yamaha!

    By SaxMac

Comments about Yamaha YAS-62II Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

Bought this horn back in May 2006 from Musician's Friend. I didn't play it much after buying it since I was quite busy then. But, I just recently started playing Sax again. It's great! Great tone, quality, and very rugged. I've had it setup for faster action. Out of the box it might need it, as the keywork can be quite stiff. Find a reputable tech and have the action lowered. It'll be good to go!
