Yamaha

Key of Bb. Each instrument has a select handcrafted grenadilla wood body and sculptured silver-plated nickel silver keys. The SCV bore gives it a dark sound with added resonance. Toneholes are individually hand-tapered and undercut for optimum tone quality, intonation, and uniform response throughout the instrument's range. The taper inside the new bell design is more open to provide for a round, full sound.

The Yamaha V-Series clarinets represent the very pinnacle of the clarinet making art. They are handcrafted from a select grade of grenadilla wood with uniquely contoured inner bore configurations. Hand-tapered undercut toneholes provide outstanding intonation and response. V-Series clarinets incorporate a unique silver-plated nickel silver alloy for key construction which adds to the resonance of these fine instruments. V-Series clarinets are instantly recognizable by the "V" emblem on the upper joint.
All Yamaha wind instruments come with a limited 5-year warranty.

I've been playing the Yamaha CSV for almost 5 years now and found it can do almost anything I want.  Great tone, excellent action, very flexible.  Great for pit, Swing or moody jazz.  Only problem I had was top section crack in dry area (Phoenix) - Which Yamaha replaced on warrenty.

If your price-range allows you to go top-of-the-line, the Yamaha CSV Custom Clarinet is a great option. I have found no difficulty in producing the dark, rich tones characteristic of the clarinet using this instrument. There is a groove cut into the bell which improves the tone beyond many other similar instruments as well, especially the low or "long tube" notes. I've had this clarinet for about a year and a half now, and with daily use I've had no problems with any of the keys or pads. I ended up not using the mouthpiece or ligature that came with this clarinet, but that is to be expected of stock mouthpieces. Overall, I love it; any remaining beliefs that Buffets still dominate the market of clarinets are shattered by this work of art.
