I tried many tenors before even attempting this. I had owned my previous tenor since 6th grade and it was not in awful condition, but it played so awful that I preferred to use a school owned instrument. Which was not a problem when I was privileged to play a vintage 70s Selmer Mark IV for a year of my high school. That until the YTS-62II came into my life was the smoothest playing instrument I have ever came across. I had tried several entry professional level Selmers and Yanagisawas before I would even touch the silver horn. I was afraid that it would sound to bright, similar to that of a silver trumpet. I was completely floored when I played my first note. It not only had the warm, rich tone I had been looking so hard for, but the key actions felt comfortable straight from the factory. I was so pleasantly surprised, after playing probably about 15 other tenors (including both the 54 and 64 series Selmers) I truly love this horn, I have owned it for 2 years now, and it is great.

I play this saxophone in my jazz band and it is GREAT. Apparently this is like the 3rd best pro yamaha sax (first two being the 875EX and the 82Z). I find that hard to believe cuz this thing is great. I've had no trouble at all with it unlike my alto selmer paris series 2. All the keys are in tune and I have not had any leaks. So if you want a professional level saxophone for the best price, this is it

I previously played on an saxophone (didn't know what brand or model) that I got when I was in 6th grade.  It was literally falling apart so I decided it was time for a new sax.  I asked my saxophone instructor which to buy and he said this one.  It has a great tone and it is extremely easy to play any low notes or high notes at any volume and high notes are almost always in tune.  The only problem I had was that the D palm key juts out so it made playing standing up dificult, but if you sit down it takes care of that.  Overall, I'm SUPER happy with this saxophone.
