Comments about Yamaha A-Series All Solid Wood Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar with SRT Preamp/Pickup:

This guitar is a fantastic instrument for the money. It has everything I wanted in a performing and recording guitar and then some. The electronics are above average for guitars in this price range although I've found the preamp to be a little short on volume compared to some other guitars I've played. You really have to crank it to play straight into a PA as well as the input volume on the PA so an outboard preamp or a DI box like the Baggs Para DI might be helpful in that regard but not essential. The tonewoods used in this guitar are, in my opinion, perfect for the singer/songwriter or rythm guitarist. The mahogony body and spruce top blend together to create a warm, balanced midrange that blends well with my voice. The guitar was a little "subdued" sounding when I first got it. Not much projection and sort of flat sounding but the electronics were so impressive that I bought it anyway in the hopes that, being an all solid wood guitar, the acoustic tone would improve after being played a while. As it turns out I was right. Both the electrified and unplugged sound of the guitar have improved makedly over the past year or so. I suspect that Yamaha is using a somewhat less intensive curing process for the woods on these A series guitars than they do for their higher end acoustics so expect a break-in period before you begin to get that deep, rich acoutic tone that only an all solid wood instrument can give you. Also I would not recommend using a humidifier on this guitar unless you live in a very dry climate. I bought one with the guitar and after using it once it absolutely killed my tone. If in doubt get yourself a hygrometer to measure the humidity of the area where you store your guitar and the inside of the guitar case. As I mentioned above the electronics on this guitar are amazing for a guitar in this price range. You get mic emulation and a resonance control that allows you to dial in how much "air" or body resonance you want in your signal. You get controls that emulate different types of mics and a push button that gived you "focused" or "wide" mic position emulation which is great for switching between strumming and finger picking. Beyond that you get a 3 band EQ, a tuner THAT WORKS and a feedback busting notch filter that also works great. Other features that I think are notewothy are: the slightly wider string spacing which is great for those of us who do much fingerpicking, the VERY nice hardshell case it comes with, the unfinished neck, the nice wood binding and rosette, the ebony fretboard, and last but not least it comes with not one but two sturdy metal strap pegs so you dont have to go voiding your warranty drilling into your brand new guitar so you can wear it in a standing position without having to resort to shoe laces. The only thing that I would change about this guitar would be to have a bone nut and saddle come with it from the factory. I think that Yamaha could do that and still remain competetive price-wise. Other than that I think that this guitar is a keeper and I expect to get many years of use and enjoyment out of it.

Comments about Yamaha A-Series All Solid Wood Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar with SRT Preamp/Pickup:

I had hoped for a better sounding guitar. I had played the laminate version and liked it and assumed the solid wood upgrade would be even better. I was wrong.

Comments about Yamaha A-Series All Solid Wood Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar with SRT Preamp/Pickup:

Not a bad guitar. Not the best gitar I have ever played. This guitar is well made, good materials and consistant factory production. Good playability and moderate projection.
Not my favorite guitar but a good.
I do not own this guitar. I am very familar with Yamaha and this name means quality.
But the down side is that Yamaha makes every thing well and not too many things superb in terms of guitars

Comments about Yamaha A-Series All Solid Wood Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar with SRT Preamp/Pickup:

After a full year of playing EVERY acoustic on the market, the choice always came back to this guitar.

Un-plugged the sound is full when strumming, and pristine when playing notes.

The ebony fretboard is a dream to play, the setup and string height are SPOT-ON!

The electronics blow away any other preamp by a long shot. This is a recording engineers dream!

You can not find a better acoustic-electric at ANY price - I played them all and money was no object, it all came down to sound, versatility, and playability.

The bonus, this guitar comes in a beautiful hard-shell case (that's actually nicer thean the case my new Les Paul Custom came in). It also includes a professional rubber soundhole cover, to block feedback when the guitar is played on a loud stage or studio setup.

This guitar is PRO in every way.

Bottom line - Taylor should be worried... VERY worried!

Comments about Yamaha A-Series All Solid Wood Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar with SRT Preamp/Pickup:

This guitar is for anyone who ever desired the middle range Taylor quality, but had much less to spend. I had instant connection with this instrument. The electronics will permit dozens of amplified tones not matter what style you play. Unplugged, this is the best sounding guitar I have ever played.
