I bought these sticks being a slipknot fan and I also felt like trying aheads sticks. There the best sticks. These sticks were designed to be played hard with. I've had my sticks for a year and haven't replaced the cover since. If I had been playing with wood sticks, I would have spent more money replacing sticks than I paid for these. It's also a cheaper stick, you can replace the cover and head for less money than an actual pair of wood sticks. The sticks bring out the true and real sound of cymbals. They feel softer in a way,but thats why they make your cymbals sound alittle different. Using a wood stick makes your cymbals sound clangy because of the stick being hard. They can be slammed and not break on contact with a cymbal or drum, believe me. We used these in a drumline and that puts the most dammage on any stick, except these. Im a fast player and use alot of movement, wich is why I love these sticks. There really light and more durable than any other stick. Aheads sticks provide great stick definition and projection. After a while though, they lose there graphic from being played alot, unless you wear gloves. But overall, buy these, sure there expensive for a stick, but you'll save alot of money on sticks in the long run.

These sticks are the best sticks around - until they break. I've already broken 3 sticks (1 and 1/2 pairs). I got my first pair in the spring of 2007 (one stick was broken by about October/November and the other one broke this early spring) and my second pair on Christmas this year (one stick from that pair broke about a month ago). I'm not planning on ordering these again. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if they were in the price range of regular wooden sticks. If you have an endless money supply, then by all means get these sticks. If you don't, like me, move on to wooden ones. They'll break maybe a little more often but are ten times cheaper.

I just broke my second pair of these sticks. They're great and all but just keep in mind that theyre not indestructable and iv had this pair for only 3 months. The aluminum shaft cracked straight through without even leaving a mark.
I thought these sticks were amazing whenI first got them. They felt pretty light so it was easy to do quick snare and tom fills, and yet they were duarable as hell. Only problem is, once the plastic wore down I had a hard time finding replacements. Apparently, at least from what I;ve seen they only make covers for the 5A, 5B. Ulrich editions but after searching this website and local guitar store, i could never find the replacenets, which ultimately leaves me either having to switch to the 7A or buying new aheads all together.
These sticks are durable and are evenly balanced for speed. I would definetly recommend these to anyone except for one fact that they slip out of your hands very very easily. Can get aggrivating but can be solved with a bit of grip tape.
These are the best sticks I have ever held. If you are a speed player and use bigger sticks, grabs a pair of these and your speed WILL increase. I did break the pair I got but I am getting more, if they sold these in a 3, 5, or 10 pair pack, I would get that.
The Ahead sticks are great, but they can really do damage to your cymbals in the long run. I wouldnt dare use these on my new 16 Paiste thin crash after my 18 crash/ride has 2 5 inch cracks in it, and a chunk missing. These are awesome dont get me wrong, but for a drummer on a real budget, and needs long lasting equipment dont get it, get more muscle with traditional sticks, helps over time.
I loved these sticks..the weight and the feel of them made it easy to really get around the kit in a hurry. While I was playing last week though my left hand stick snapped in half..which amazed me since I thought so highly of these stick to begin with. They were definately tough though for such a small diameter stick and certainly lasted me longer than any wood stick would have. I am going for the Ulrich model next......
These sticks are the Best in my opinion. I have been using them for about a year now, And Never have had to replace the sleeve, But it is getting to be that time. If Your looking for a great stick for Practice, And Live performances this is the one that won't let You down...
Over the years I've used various sticks by Easton/Ahead. I haven't used a wood stick in about 7 years now. I started out with the Rock model and then went through a pair of the Lars Ulrich model (I actually broke one) and am now using the Jordinson model. So far these have been the best one as far as feel goes. They are nicely balanced and are not as thick and long as the Rock and Ulrich models. I don't use the Ahead stick wrap anymore due to the negative effect on balance. I've been using a rubber coating applied from a paint can with fairly good results. Make sure you use locktite or a similar product as the tips can come loose and work their way off while playing. The one possible drawback with these sticks is the fact that they darken the sound a bit. This is great for the drums but you will loose some of the high end on your cymbals due to the soft nature of the plastic sleeves. Wood sticks produce a brighter cymbal sound. Other than that these are some of the best sticks on the market. The sleeves last a very long time and are cheaper to replace than wood sticks. Great investment.
I've owned these sticks for about 5 months and I have had no problems with these. I LOVE them!!!! They produce a very clean, heavy sound on your drums. The only problem I faced was that I am used to playing with lighter sticks. I don't know how Joey does it. But the sticks are on the heavier side. But overall, these sticks rock without question!
absolutey love them if they look expensive over all they aren't the sleeves last twice as long as wood sticks and cost about half as much you will over all save hundreds
I feel like I wasted so much money on wood sticks now that I have been using the Ahead JJ1 sticks for a while. When they get chipped up, I just slap on another set of sleeves and they're good as new. I had the benefit of trying before buying, since my drummer owns the Lars, XL Rock, and the JJ1 Ahead sticks. I have always liked thinner, lighter sticks, but these beat the snot out of my 7A wood sticks. They're lighter, they bounce better, and my hands feel better after a couple of hours of drumming.
I have heard and seen these drum sticks in play. My idol just so happens to be joey and if you watch him in play than that tells you that these sticks can take a beating. Joey is the greatest drummer alive and will remain that way for years to come. So all you drummers out there, keep on drumming and rock on to all of you. Keep on jammin out, (twa.)
I use these sticks at church in the middle school praise band. My hands feel better, and I can move faster, and even my friend who plays for the high school praise band uses them. They are amazingly durable and both me and my friend are hard hitters. Buy these I promise you will not be let down.
These drumsticks are friggin' awesome, ive had the same sticks for over a year without any breakage. I am very impressed with the JJ sticks, I would have went through about 8 pairs of Vic Firth by now,I recommend them if you are thinking about buying a pair.
These sticks are wonderful. I find the weight balance to be perfect for any kind of drumming. Any pair of wooden sticks would have broken by now but these hardly seem they are going to break soon. I have already ordered a pair of medium taper covers just in case. These sticks are noticeably more difficult to grip compared to wooden sticks because of the aluminum handles, but there still isn't a chance they'll slip out of your hands unless you have a light grip. Plus the paint on the handle appears to be wearing off. Other than that, 100% amazing.
Joey really knows what he's doing. These sticks are balanced for speed, agility, and power. The only problem is your hands getting sweaty and the sticks slipping out, to fix this buy a pair of ahead gloves. Otherwise, these sticks are an all-around great product of a great drummer. Good choice Joey.
These sticks are really good. They are light weight and easy to get used to. But over time they will dent the rims on your kit. And they make cymbals crack alot faster as well.
These sticks are probably the best sticks I've ever had. I got them not too long ago when I was home and I played with them when I had the chance. They have perfect balance. They took me awhile to get used to because of the metal handles. But after a couple songs I felt like Joey or the drummer of Metallica. If you're looking for sticks with style and durablity, pick up a pair of these and try them. Im like 90% sure youll like them
These stix are the best I have ever used in my life. They are realy light, which helps you play faster. They also give off little vibration, which protects you from getting hand fatigue. Over all these stix are amazing. I definitely suggest the Joeys' to others.
These are the best sticks out there, they are durable and sound great too they also help out by being lightweight for speed! they really are the best sticks money can buy!
