This bundle includes a special version of the A1.2 that has a slight frequency notch of 6 decibels in the low-mids, giving the system a smooth acoustic sound at louder volume levels and is packaged along with, and for use only, with the 1470 AST. Comments about B-Band A1.2N Acoustic Guitar Endpin Preamp:

I installed the pickup in a Martin D-16. Installation was fairly easy for a first-time installer. Good directions, and required no soldering, as some do.
Very "hot" pickup -- feeds back easily on low strings -- needs to be tamed down. The installation template places the transducer strip closer to the bass end pins than the treble ones, so maybe this is the problem. Billed as a more authentic acoustic sound than under saddle pickups, but I don't find much difference. Highs are too brassy and lows boom too much. I plugged it into an LR Baggs Para Acoustic DO Pro Direct Box w/ EQ to modify the sound, and I was able to modify the sound to my satisfaction. Huge volume, but lots of feedback at high volumes. Don't know if one of those sound hole distortion mutes would work with the volume knob sticking out slightly in the sound hole.
Overall, I'm happy with the sound because it allows me to plug in and play open mike sessions, but it doesn't sound as "natural" as my Seymour Duncan Woody mag pickup.

Great sound - easy to install

Comments about B-Band A1.2N Acoustic Guitar Endpin Preamp:

I have placed two of the 1470 AST pickups in my guitars (Guild D25 & Yamaha CJ-838S) with no problems. Sound is excellent with even amplification across strings. Feedback is limited with only the Jumbo Yamaha needing a soundhole cover. I had a problem with the A1.2N preamp 2 months after purchase. I contacted B-band and after sending in the broken preamp, they replaced it without cost. Great sound you can install yourself without needing to drill a hole thru the top of your guitar.

Repackaged / Damaged item...???

B-Band A1.2N Acoustic Guitar Endpin Preamp

I purchased this item "new" and, upon its arrival, was immediately suspicious that it was a returned item. I have purchased similar items from the same manufacturer in the past. The wire harness was not packaged as neatly as is the norm for this item... it was simply shoved back into the box without the usual careful coiling and twist-tie. I assumed that as long as the item functioned properly, it would not be a problem. As it turned out, one of the components was damaged making the pickup unusable. I called customer service to see if the one part could be replaced (since the installation was complete except for the placement of the faulty component) and was told that I would have to uninstall, repackage, and return. A real pain, if you know what I mean. It's not particularly easy digging around inside an acoustic guitar through the sound hole. The customer service rep at MF was friendly and understanding, sending me a return ship label via email. I assume I will be receiving a full refund. The item could not be replaced since it was out of stock and was told if I wanted a replacement I would have to wait approximately 1 month. I opted for the refund and ordered the pickup elsewhere.

The pickup itself is highly recommended. I own a number of guitars with this system installed and feel they are among the best available reproducing the acoustic sound of my guitars without the typical "quack" associated with under saddle piezo pickups.

I gave this item a 2-star rating but it is not a reflection of the item itself but rather a rating based on getting a (I assume) returned / repackaged item as opposed to new.
