The legacy of famed guitar deity Jimi Hendrix is not to be taken lightly. And when it comes to getting involved in a Hendrix guitar-related project, one better know what one is doing.
Jimi started recording with Pure Nickel guitar strings. That's one of the sounds you hear. Yeah, there are lots of amps involved, but the very beginning sound came from the strings. The Pure Nickel outer wrap has a special Vintage tone that no other string has. Dean Markley has reproduced that original Hendrix Pure Nickel String.

I really liked these strings when they didn't die. The gauges are nice for me, pretty easy to bend. But they die really quick.
I've been playing quite a while, and along the way I discovered ,like many, that no string sounds best on all guitars. When I get a new (new to me) guitar, I go out and buy 4-5 different brands of strings - and try them all. The ones that sound, and feel the best on that guitar, are what goes on it from that point on. If my tastes change of something new an interesting comes out, I may do it again.I currently have a strat, and a tele, and these are what sounds best on those two guitars. The bass strings are not too flabby, nice and clean - and the high strings are not too thin or shrill.I have found their life to be as good as the other brands, but then I wipe them occasionally and don't leave them on the guitar for 6 months at a time. I reccomend them.
Ive used them about 6 times the same gauge...they sound almost the same, ill admit they are a bit brighter but they pop, snap and DIE quick. I was playing White Room by Cream and I heard they died by the end of the 10 minute song. I was jaming in my band with them. Cool package! Sometimes you get a sticker of the cover Axis Bold As Love to but its not that bug its medium sized. Your better off with DR handmade strings they are made in the U.S.A. AND are good quality the best of today I swear!
I like these type but the electric lady land ones are waaaaaay better in my opinion high gauge they do die quick but I realized that if you stretch them they do go for a long ride.
