The Dean Markley HELIX HD 2081 acoustic guitar strings are light top strings that will give your music a sound like no other. It took over a year and many trials for the Dean Markley team to find just the precise elliptical shape for the winding wire that makes up the patent-pending, Hyper-Elliptical Winding process of the Helix HD. This shape then had to be paired with the correct winding process that would produce these stupendous results-the maximum mass for the string's diameter that still maintained the guitar string's vibrancy.
The Hyper-Elliptical Winding process results in an increased number of wraps along the length of the string. This increases the mass of your guitar string, without changing its diameter or material.
More mass makes give the Dean Markley HELIX HD2081 guitar strings a fuller tone; more windings give a smoother feel as well as a brighter, more resonant tone. This provides a smoothness and performance unrivaled by conventional strings.
When you press and strum a normal wrap wire, your fingers experience resistance as they go down into each depression between the wraps. With the Dean Markley HELIX HD you'll experience smoothness. These less coarse wrappings let your fingers glide more easily and smoothly along the surface of the wrap wire.
Made of 80% copper, and 20% zinc, these Dean Markley acoustic guitar strings are made of a true brass alloy-well-balanced and durable for loud, rich sound that is exceptionally long-lasting. Helix HD's unique Hyper-Elliptical Winding process adds more projection and tone than other guitar strings of the same gauges, and reduces corrosion and finger noise on the surface of the string.

Comments about Dean Markley HELIX HD 2081 Acoustic Guitar Strings - 80/20 LT:
The Helix HD's sound great when you are strumming a single chord but when you try moving your fingers around the fretboard you get alot of string noise along with a "sandpaper" feel that tends to grab your finger tips. The claim for these strings was low finger noise on the strings and a smoother feel. Quite the opposite for my experience. Darn! guess I'll stick to half rounds for that smooth feel and low finger noise.
Comments about Dean Markley HELIX HD 2081 Acoustic Guitar Strings - 80/20 LT:
Great tone and sustain, as advertised. They do feel a little different than other strings, a little "grabbier" on the fingers when they are brand new. I gave them a try over my usual EXPs and so far I am satisfied.

Comments about Dean Markley HELIX HD 2081 Acoustic Guitar Strings - 80/20 LT:
Ive tried alot of different strings on my Carvin 980 (Rosewood Jumbo) and some of them where good. But I never found all the tone I was looking for until now. The tone is so complex with these strings Dean Markley is really on to something. I dont know why they have'nt made a 12 string set...anyway if you are still searching for "the" sound give them a try.

Comments about Dean Markley HELIX HD 2081 Acoustic Guitar Strings - 80/20 LT:
A few months back, a friend gave me a set of these. The package was opened & I believe he had the wrong strings in the wrong package for they were not very good. Today, some good friends gave me a couple sets. I put a set on my old Ibanez &
WOW, I couldn't believe how good they sounded & felt to my fingers. I couldn't put my guitar down for quite awhile because of their quality. I seriously urge any guitarist that reads my review to give these Helix light guage #2081 a try. You will be hooked!! NOW, I won't mind driving a few miles to get them. I HIGHLY recommend them if you love playing music.

Comments about Dean Markley HELIX HD 2081 Acoustic Guitar Strings - 80/20 LT:
I had been using phosphor bronze strings on my carvin jumbo, and wanted to find some 80/20's that didnt sound overly bright. These strings are exactly what I was looking for. A nice full tone that is very balanced...NOT Grabby!
