Epic Sounds!!!

Comments about DiMarzio Fast Track Pre-Wired Strat Guitar Pickguard:

I recently purchased a Strat from Musician's Friend (I love the feel of the 9.5" radius C-shaped neck), but could not find one with the ideal pickup array. So I decided to purchase the prewired pickguard and give it a try. Now historically, I have owned guitars with All types of DiMarzio Pickups (e.g., Evolution, Custom, Super Distortion, etc.) and have always been very pleased with the tone. However, I had never "experimented" with the single coil sized humbuckers, so I really didn't know what to expect. First of all, once I got the hang of it, installation was an absolute BREEZE!!! Now, the only tricky part (for me, at least) was figuring out how to wire the three ground wires that are in the particular guitar that I "hot-rodded". (Some guitars have two ground wires and others have three.) Thank goodness for Youtube, because I found a whole bunch of tutorial videos on how to install this product. So once it was installed, I took her on a test drive and was absolutely blown away! I plugged into a Marshall, a Line 6, a Carvin and a Fender amp and these pickups sounded absolutely astounding! A week after installation, I went from "test drive" to "race track" and played lead guitar at a Ronnie James Dio tribute concert. These pickups absolutely outperformed the other guitars on stage, AND I could hear the quality in the live recording!!! They have plenty of body AND cut so nicely through a mix! I was utterly pleased at their overall performance. Of course, just like any pickups, you need to make sure you buy the right ones for the sound you want. I have to say, these pickups in particular surpassed expectation AND I am thinking of droppig a set into another Strat I have at home. You will absolutely NOT be disappointed!

Comments about DiMarzio Fast Track Pre-Wired Strat Guitar Pickguard:

If you want a quick diy upgrade, this product fits the bill with quality components, clean construction, and easy installation.
Installation is fast and easy. Just insert the ground and hot wire from the output jack into a clearly marked junction box, There are two ground wire inserts in case you need to ground the tremolo claw. Screw down the pickguard. and you are ready to play. DiMarzio even supplies a screwdriver for the junction box. Installation is virtually goof proof. Pickguard screws are not included. You might have to reposition some pickguard holes.

Played through a Marshall 210 head connected to a 4x10 cabinet loaded with Greenback 25 speakers, the tone was warmer and fatter than single coils. The low end was tight and articulate. The highs were clean, but not out of the ordinary, but this cabinet accentuates the lower frequencies. The highs might be more impressive with different speakers. The bridge pickup is not brittle like some single coil pickups. The overall impression is that the tone sounds more humbucker than single coil.
Wiring is clean and complete.
The pickguard is ordinary. It could be more attractive for the price.

Comments about DiMarzio Fast Track Pre-Wired Strat Guitar Pickguard:

I bought this to hot-rod my vintage 65' Strat remake. The reason: I didn't really like the Vintage '65 pickups because while the neck and middle were great, the bridge pickup just didn't do it for me. So I purchased this Dimarzio set (I already have another strat that has the Duncan Ax-Everything pups in it), because I had tried a tone zone before and liked it. This is a great upgrade and best of all, the hardest part is exposing the ground and hot wires. I have soldered by pups in the past, which is what I did with the Duncans, but man, this makes it so much easier and neater. The pickguard fit very nicely on my strat, and all told, it took longer to restring the guitar than to replace the pickguard and the new pickups. Very energetic Bridge tone, not as loud as the normal humbucker version, but very nice. The middle pickup is great as is the Air Norton in the neck. Positions 4 and 2 are very strat sounding, which I'm glad I didn't loose. Overall, I'm excited about my upgrade and the guitar now gets ample playtime.

The only bad thing is there isn't any manual, but I suppose that's why there's an instructional video online. Also, mine came with pickguard screws, although I didn't use them. It has a nice flathead screwdriver so you can screw in the contacts, but you'll still need a phillips head for the pickguard screws and a good wire stripper.
