The case you receive will not be the case pictured.

Aesthetically, the one I received had a smoother and shiny tolex while the pictured one is matte finished and textured/pebbly. The pictured case has a arched lid (a design feature found in the "better" and "best" cases because it adds structural strength). The one I received is completely flat like all "economy" cases.

Also, my case had at least four scuffs. Not a big deal because cases are going to get scuffed anyway, but it is a new case, right? There are several flaws in the laying of the tolex (bubbling from air in some cases and something solid caught between the tolex and the wood surface in other cases). One particularly unsightly spot is about the size of a thumbprint creating a 1-2 millimeter raised flat bulge. Also, while the lining is plush, it's been less-than-perfectly installed.

There are five quality latches, 3 in front and 2 in the rear, and each appears to operate as should. The lid fits snug to the base and closes properly. Having said all this, it suits my guitar pretty well. It's a good fit, and a pretty good deal.

For those who would like to know, the interior measurements are as follows based on my measurements:
17" lower bout
12" upper bout
4.75-5" - depth

    Epiphone Jumbo hardshell guitar case

    By Gary Black

    from Raleigh,NC

Comments about Epiphone Jumbo Hardshell Guitar Case for AJ and EJ Series Guitars:

Overall it is a reasonable purchase, needing improvement on the glue smell.
It says it fits AJ and EJ series guitars. I own an Epiphone AJ-220S and the fit is sloppy, but ok with 1 inch of play back&forth and side to side,so you have to cushion it to stabilize the guitar for a snug fit.
One size does not fit all very well,,just average.
The adhesive smell is pretty strong when you open the case, and is not desirable. I have aired out the case for three days and used Arm&Hammer fridge deodorizers to try to eliminate the smell. There could be a better smelling adhesive, but it's made in China so who knows what they used. They need to improve this.
Case is made accurately, lid fits when shutting, latches work fine. Materials do the job but are a little lesser in quality. You will need to spend 150.00 to get a better case.

Nice and BIG, just like my guitar!

Comments about Epiphone Jumbo Hardshell Guitar Case for AJ and EJ Series Guitars:

Got this case for my EJ200ce, and i must say it fits like a glove! I've never seen a guitar fit so nicely into a case. The case has cut outs for the electronics, which is an awesome feature. The inside of the case is actually a beautiful looking soft, plush-type material. Not an ugly carpet looking material like the pictures show. And the tab to lift up the (spacious)compartment is actually black...just sayin. The latches are really sturdy and secure, which is always a must. The only complaint I have is the outside. The outside is a kind of cheap "pleather" type material that really shows it's cheapness at the seems. I would think for how expensive this case is, the outside would be something nicer and more durable. But that being said, that doesnt effect your guitar being protected..which it will be in this pretty good case.

    Fits the Epiphone Broadway!

    By Vegas Duffman

    from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about Epiphone Jumbo Hardshell Guitar Case for AJ and EJ Series Guitars:

I had picked up the Epiphone Broadway a few weeks ago and have had the hardest time trying to find a case that would fit it. The sales reps from Guitar Center and Sam Ash kept saying they had some no-name case that would work, but nothing did. When I read the Epiphone Jumbo Hardshell Case would fit it, I was a little hesitant. It arrived today and it fits perfectly! The case's construction is solid and I like how the Epihone name is spelled out. I recommend this case for anyone who is looking for a quality case.

Comments about Epiphone Jumbo Hardshell Guitar Case for AJ and EJ Series Guitars:

Overall, it's a good usable case that needs a better fit and a better smell..much better than a flimsy gig bag.
A solid case with plenty of latches and storage box for strings, picks, etc.
I own an Epiphone AJ 220S. They say the case fits both AJ and EJ models, but the AJ in the case has an inch of play side to side and back and forth, not a snug fit. (you can fix the problem with a small cushion or stacked polishing cloths).
The case is made fairly well, a bit thinner vinyl covering and shell thickness. (It's not a regular Gibson case, and made in China)
It only has two hinges to hold up the lid when you open it, a Gibson acoustic case has three,(I own both for comparison).
The glue smell was quite strong and irritating. I bought Arm&Hammer fridge baking soda deodorizers and put them in the case for two days, which helped, and then another 2 days just leaving the case open and also vacuuming it out to try to extract the odor. This got out about 75% of the smell and made it tolerable. Something should be done about this problem.
A pretty good value, as long as you solve the glue smell and pad the inside to keep the guitar from moving. One size does not fit all the guitars.

Comments about Epiphone Jumbo Hardshell Guitar Case for AJ and EJ Series Guitars:

This is THE case to buy for your EJ200CE it fits like it was custom made for my guitar only. Plenty of storage in the inside compartment, it even has a small cutaway for the electronics on the side of the guitar. I am so happy with this case, that I just ordered an Epiphone brand ES-335 case for my Sheraton II. If your searching for a case for your jumbo, just get this one its a match made in heaven. (And no I don't work for Epiphone LOL), I'm just really happy with the quality of the case I received.

Comments about Epiphone Jumbo Hardshell Guitar Case for AJ and EJ Series Guitars:

The initial fit is FAR from snug or close, however I believe it is the Crayola Modeling material that allows the guitar to be custom fit easily and it dries into a soft rubbery material that is perfect for the modifications needed(IMHO). I used only one package and made a full length neck cradle as well as a block that stabilizes the head/neck really well reducing the possibility of it breaking in the event the case is dropped from a height. Once I modified the case I really like it.

Comments about Epiphone Jumbo Hardshell Guitar Case for AJ and EJ Series Guitars:

I had ordered this to go along with my purchase of an EJ-200CE. Very happy with the guitar, not so the case. The hinges did not align, and the case would not shut porperly. The material was very flimsy, and the coverying of the case was not uniform. I returned the case, and purchased a Guardian case (very sturdy plywood with tolex) for around the same price from another dealer. MF was quick in addressing the problem and authorizing the return.

Fits my Emperor Regent perfectly. The case's construction quality is only average: there's a small air pocket under the vinyl top layer on the side of the case where it curves. Should have also considered injection mold cases.

I bought this case along with a new
aj220sce. Although this case was advertised by the instrument maker for this guitar, the fit is not great. Overall a good quality case, but the user will wind up stuffing polishing towels between the guitar and case sides for a tight, solid fit.

Comments about Epiphone Jumbo Hardshell Guitar Case for AJ and EJ Series Guitars:

This is a very nice case for a great (sale) price. It fits my OSCAR SCHMIDT OE40 like a glove. A snug glove, but still a good fit.

I ended having a problem with the first case I received. There were several large areas of the tolex coming loose in the concaved area of the bottom. It was in an area where it seemed certain to get worse over time so I contacted MF Customer Service and they were great about returning it and replacing it with a new one. The second one was much better, but there was a small area on the flat section of the bottom where the tolex was a little loose. As it was in an area where I didn't think it would be likely to get worse over time and I needed a case for the guitar so I decided to keep it.

I really don't think I can blame MF for this problem as the cases came in sealed boxes, but Epiphone should talk with their supplier of these cases and take a look at their tolex application process. The only issue I have with MF is that with their return process and time delays in ground shipping - it took about a month to get the replacement case from the day I ordered it.

I would recommend the case to a friend, but with a caution about the the issues noted above.

I bought this case for the Epiphone Masterbuilt Finger Style Guitar. It is not the right size for this guitar and I returned it. Although I didn't use the case, I did notice when I tried the fit, that the construction isn't what I thought it should have been. I would have returned the case for that reason alone, had it fit the guitar. The trim was not straight and the wood material under the vinyl was showing. I have other Epiphone cases that are much older, but much better constructed and had been knocked around for years with little signs of wear. This one just doesn't measure up.

When I looked on line to find a case that would fit my Epiphone Jumbo guitar, I was shocked to find that there are none that will fit my J-200. So I ordered the Epiphone case which arrived yesterday. My guitar fits well and snug and no movemnet. The case is sturdy and well made and now I see why the higher cost. Definately worth the money and then you dont have much of a choice if you own a Jumbo guitar

I just got this case in the mail from Musicians Friend. I was a bit nervous... I couldn't find a review from somebody who had an EJ-200ce. I thought, since the electronics controls stick out quite a bit, it might not fit. It fits very tightly (which is a good thing), and the section where the controls are is cut away a little on the case. Nothing gets smashed. The quality is extremely high for the price... much better than cases I've gotten for much higher prices. Overall, well constructed, and fits perfectly. And it's fairly cheap. More expensive cases might be made from better materials and with better craftsmanship, but won't fit an EJ-200ce like this case will. Also, there are a lot of latches... which gets sort of annoying but in the end, I would prefer them to be there.

It's a VERY tight fit, which is good from the point of view of protecting my guitar, but not so good for getting it in and out easily. I'm sure once the fur and padding "adjust" to the guitar, it will get easier. I concur with others about the smell, very strong and it has permiated into the guitar. I'm going to air it out and use baking soda as others have suggested. Some surplus glue around the edge is annoying, gets on my fingers. I also agree about the vinyl covering, very thin and won't stand up to gigging, it's an "occasional" transport case at best, more go a home storage solution really.

Finally, with the guitar inside, the lid doesn't line up properly, I have to push it to one side to get it to close. My concern is that this is putting strain on the hinges, of which there are only two, time will tell if it settles down or not.

Good case for the money ($89) and for my purposes, but buy the Gibson one if you're taking your guitar to gigs a lot.
