I played D'addario strings for the first 10 years I played guitar, then about 4 years ago I decided to take a shot at making a custom gauge set specifically for my guitar. Ernie ball strings are easier to find individually so I changed brands. I can't even begin to describe how much of a difference it makes having consistently ascending string tensions across the fretboard on my 7-string (~21 lbs at low end to ~13 lbs at high end) especially for fast players. Sweeps and arpeggios immediately feel more natural. My 7-string is currently tuned to drop G (d,A,F,C,g,D,G). With a 25.5" scale the best gauges are .010,.014,.019,.028,.039,.056, and .074 if you want a good middle ground between tight strings and bendability. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

I bought this to experiment with since i have vintage stagger pickups. I don't care too much for the plain 17 Gauge G string that comes with most sets of 10 and higher gauge strings. It lasted 2 minutes. I have a floating bridge on my strat so maybe that had something to do with it but I could not for the life of me get it to bend up more than a half step. I'm sure they are great strings just not suitable for my needs.

Comments about Ernie Ball Nickel Wound Single Guitar Strings 3-Pack:
I tried to install an .026 Wound as a D string But THE STRING IS TOO SHORT--- That means of 21 strings purchased, the.018W , .024W ,.26W 032W 036W and.042W strings can only
be used as LOW E or G. My Guitar is an Epiphone Emperor Regent with a frequensator tail piece. All of these strings are WORTHLESS. I'd like a refund.
Comments about Ernie Ball Nickel Wound Single Guitar Strings 3-Pack:
These 3 packs of individual strings are awesome! I keep my Custom Tele Deluxe and Les Paul tuned down in drop C and Drop A respectively and I had been having issues staying in tune. Heavier strings did the trick. Not only did a beefier string drastically improve my tuning stability, my sound got alot thicker. I'm using these along with a set of Ernie Ball "Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms" and thet work perfect. Set up as follows: 60-52-36-17-13-10 for Drop C and 70-52-36-17-13-10 for drop A. I LOVE THESE STRINGS!

I have used these strings since 1968 & they sound better than stainless steel, cobalt, & nylon

Comments about Ernie Ball Nickel Wound Single Guitar Strings 3-Pack:
These strings are consistently good from set to set. M. F. has all the guages I need to make a
custom set: I own 9 guitars, all of which need different sets to work successfully in the studio...

Comments about Ernie Ball Nickel Wound Single Guitar Strings 3-Pack:
I have a Jackson that has single-coil pickups in the middle/neck position. The guitar is in standard D and I use the 10-52 Ernie Ball set. The 17 gauge G string always sounded a bit weird on the neck pickup. After hours of googling and youtubing I found out that this is rather common on unwound strings (esp. the G). Switching to the wound 18-gauge string was all I needed to cure this problem. It makes it quite a bit harder to bend the string though.

Comments about Ernie Ball Nickel Wound Single Guitar Strings 3-Pack:
I rarely play the electric guitar. I most always play an acoustic/electric. But I used to use these Ernie Ball wound strings a lot. I simply HATE an unwrapped third string. Musicians Friend told me they did not have these at one time, but I am glad they stock them again. These are hard to beat!

Comments about Ernie Ball Nickel Wound Single Guitar Strings 3-Pack:
Even though i switch back and forth from 10 - to - 11 gauge strings, I almost always find a way to have a wound string in the 3rd position (Traditional 6 string tuning - G String), I have been known to also use 22 gauge wound with an 11 gauge set. Ernie Ball fits the bill for my playing needs, yes there are "brighter" sounding strings, there are strings that last slightly longer - however all things considered - I like Ernie Ball strings on my single coil guitars, and IMHO they sound good on FMIC (Gretsch) Humbuckers too.

Comments about Ernie Ball Nickel Wound Single Guitar Strings 3-Pack:
I picked up a couple of sets of custom gauge strings for a project guitar. They worked perfectly and sound great. Very happy with the option to pick up a single gauge of string (and the option of such heavy strings for a guitar). Have been a huge fan for Ernie Ball for years, on both my guitars and basses and these live up to the same quality I've expected.

Comments about Ernie Ball Nickel Wound Single Guitar Strings 3-Pack:
It's really nice that Ernie Ball went out of their way for you to get specific individual strings that you need for in a last minute pinch or say you are looking for a specific gauge to put on your guitar. What a great idea! I have no complaints at all about that.
