I got this case today and it looked like it would be what I was looking for. Until, that is, I tried to install my gear. There is a 1/4" plastic lip that goes around the opening about 1 3/4" in. That means your vertical space is cut by 1/2", and you can't use all 4 spaces. I had to CARVE OUT the lip in order for the gear to fit in. The other two people who have reviewed this with high reviews must not have used all 4 spaces.I have a few older Gator cases - a couple mic cases, 2 soft mixer cases, and an ATA mixer case. I used to appreciate their quality, but this thing is a joke. If your rack device was only 1-1/2" deep it would work great. I don't know of any devices like that.

The case looks like it will do the job. However, I believe it is over-priced. Perhaps the brand name elevates the price.

As another reviewer mentioned, the threads were slightly shy. I had to use a crow bar to bend the plastic to get them to reach. No big deal. My Gator 4 unit rack was fine.

Comments about Gator G-Pro Roto Mold Rack Case:
The 6 and 8 space units are fantastic, and I thought I'd buy a 4-space unit for when I needed to haul less gear. I never quite understood the previous reviewer who talked about needing to carve his unit for the gear to fit. The 6 and 8 space units work fine, so I figured it was an issue that was resolved years ago. Nope. On the 4-space unit, there is an extra protruding inner lip on the inside of the lid that makes it absolutely impossible to close the lid if gear is racked in all 4 spaces. There is no space for the inner cover lip to fit between the edge of the racked gear and the edge of the case, so the lid won't fit and cannot close. It is ridiculous. Gator obviously never tested the unit with gear racked in it to see if the lid would close. This 4-space unit should not be on the market with this unacceptable design flaw as this rack is clearly intended for transportation. The 6 and 8 space units do not have the extra protruding lip inside the covers and of course they close fine. Don't know about the 2-space. This is hard hard thick plastic, so carving would not be an easy solution. Avoid the 4-space unit.

Comments about Gator G-Pro Roto Mold Rack Case:
After much deliberation over the few available rack cases on the market that I'd actually consider buying, I decided to go with this one. A few factors that lured me in were: 1)The price-I feel like almost all rack cases are a little overpriced, but these ones don't make me cringe quite as much. I feel like I actually got my money's worth. 2) the case seems very durable for normal/moderate use, and the handles are actually part of the case, not just attached to it-you won't ever have to be afraid that they'll break off or wear out. I use to house my bass head, which weighs about 40-45lbs, so it is MUCH easier and much less scary to transport. 3) the inside of the case is actually form fitting, so if you mount a standard 2U bass head or something in there, the case hugs right around it there is ZERO movement. Very secure. 4) the moving parts of the latches are attached to the lids and not the case, so no vibrating or getting caught on things if you have to move it around on stage. 5) it looks dang good. Maybe not as good as the SKB, but right up there.
If there were anything I'd like, it would probably be locks on the lids, but I'm not sure they're really much of a deterrent on something made out of plastic that can be carried off. It's a little bulky, but so is the equipment you store inside of them. Other than that, overall it was a great investment. Get one.

Comments about Gator G-Pro Roto Mold Rack Case:
I got a 6-space in the Red Granite to house some power amps. I thought it looked so good that I decided to get another one. Now, I have one rack for my mains with amps and effects in one case and another case housing my monitors' needs. Each one, with an older, heavier amp and other rack gear is light enough for one person to lift! As I said, they look great in the Red Granite and the price was amazing! I've only taken them to one gig, but the latches are nice and tight, the rubber feet are substantial and they came with more than enough screws and washers to mount them full of gear. I've only had them for a couple of gigs, but they should hold up well. We take good care of our stuff as anyone should, and I anticipate these holding up for years.

I downsized from an 8U to 4U because my roadie left and when things get heavy alternatives are best. A nice case for the money but it could've used the aluminum bracing around the lip/lid area.

Comments about Gator G-Pro Roto Mold Rack Case:
I do the sound for our church where I have to set the sound equipment up and down every Sunday. I hall the equipment back and forth in a trailer. I destroyed a great cd player from the abuse of haling it in the trailer with no protection. This case holds and protects my rack mount Tascam CD-200i perfectly. Thanks to the help and information I received from the folks at Musician's Friend, I now have a perfect fitting hard core rack mount case that protects my cd player GREAT. No more destroyed cd players.

When I pulled this out of the shipping box, I knew it would be a great product! I use it for a travel case as well as semi-permanent in the same place week after week, and it works great! It is even sturdy when you stack them together. Thanks Gator and Musician's Friend for offering a great product!
Comments about Gator G-Pro Roto Mold Rack Case:
I ordered the rack in green, and to my surprise, their "green" is actually turquoise, or even baby blue. That being said, musicians friend offered to pay shipping to get me a different color, and the rack itself is extremely solid, and very light considering its level of protection. They offer no pictures of the green on the manufacturer's website, although nearly every other color is shown.
