I have two gibsons and this strap is a great complement to my guitars. It has very good quality and it's very professional looking. The leather keeps it on the guitar so it doesn't slip off. I highly recommend it!
I bought this strap for my 4k LP '68 custom, and after about 2 months of daily use the hole at the "neck" end is big enough to accommodate my fist. Seriously, the quality of the materials is shocking. Few weeks of use and my baby slipped off the strapholes and landed on my foot. that was the last time I used this strap. I was expecting a solid leather strap that could manage a weight of a solid body LP, but this strap wont hold my nuts without falling apart. On the bright side, it does hold the guitar on my shoulders without wandering and sliding off and due to its width i dont get tired as much. Still, the build quality siqualifies it as worthy of Gibson logo.
My wife bought me this strap as a Xmas present to complement my Gibson ES-335. It's a stiff strap, with a nice soft brushed finish on top. On bottom it's a cheap nasty leather that's rough and really uncomfortable unless you're wearing some padding (yeah, like maybe a parka?!). It's finish is comparable to sandpaper or even a loofah on the edges! I guess that's supposed to keep it from shifting around(?) Don't expect to wear a T-shirt with this strap without ripping your neck up. If your guitar is heavy, think twice before ordering this strap. Because I marked up the finish by using strap-locks, I couldn't send it back. Now it sits in a drawer... I'm amazed that Gibson would put their name on it.
A strap is a strap. This one is particularly soft and supple.
I was surprised by how comfortable this strap actually is, because it looks sort of thin padding-wise. I use it with my es-333, which you might call a medium-weight guitar. With a heavier guitar like a Les, you might want a strap with a bit more padding underneath.
this thing is a piece of junk. it doesnt go low at all it just stays really high up and it hurts your back because it squeezes. u can buy it if u want but i dont like mine cuz it hurts to play
I had high hopes for this strap to use with my new Gibson J-45 that I ordered from Musician's Friend. First, the pictures indicated that the strap would include a thong, and it did not. Second, the strap was uncomfortable and cheaply made. After fidgeting with it for a half hour, I finally ripped it off and threw it aside, and now I feel ripped off.
I have a couple of these and use them on Les Paul Customs/Standards and an SG, and think it's a great strap for any guitar. No issues with being too stiff, too scratchy or anything. They are certainly not cheap, but I think they are a great strap for the money.
