Crisp top end and bell-like tone, the Lace Sensor Gold pickup uses the latest technology to provide excellent tone for today's players.
The Lace Sensor Gold has a unique radiant field barrier system that surrounds both the coil and magnets, reducing annoying 60-cycle hum. The patented Lace Micro Combs replace traditional bobbins, yielding a wider tonal range and better string balance than traditional electric guitar pickups.
Unlike ordinary pickups, the Lace Sensor Gold generates 36 separate magnetic "sensing" fields that, in the areas where they contact the string, "read" the strings' vibration. (Regular pickups only generate anywhere from 4 to 12 fields).
The Lace Sensor Gold's Radiant Field Barriers are metal slides that frame the inner core of the Sensors and perform two functions. The first is to shield the Sensor pickup from outside noise and 60-cycle hum. The second is to produce broader, yet more concentrated, umbrellas of sensing field than standard magnetic pickups.
Less Noise, More Harmonics
As compared to standard guitar pickups, the Lace Sensor Gold reads a greater physical area of the string, while picking up less outside interference. This makes the signal-to-noise ratio nothing short of phenomenal for a single coil system. Also, a wider range of harmonic content is read by the Sensor, delivering a more complex tonal response.
Increased Sustain, Truer Pitch
Since it operates so efficiently, Lace Sensors can use much lower energy magnets than ordinary pickups, and this in turn brings about a whole new realm of properties. In regular guitar pickups, the magnetic fields are so strong they physically dampen, or drag on, the strings' vibration, Reducing sustain and actually changing the pitch. But in the Lace Sensor Gold, string dampening is virtually nonexistent. This means your sustain is increased dramatically while the string holds its true pitch for the duration of the note.

I purchased this loaded pickguard because I wanted a set of lace sensor gold pups and I wanted a white pickguard so instead of installing them myself this was just a one shot deal! I never gave much thought to trying lace sensors, yet I've tried just about every custom boutique single coil Strat set out there as well as many many pickups from Duncan, dimarzio, etc. The price was really fair so I gave them a shot in my fender American vintage reissue 70s ash Strat. They sound fantastic! Great classic Strat tone, nearly noise free and great when driven! All in all these will most likely stay in this guitar for a very long time. I'm actually thinking about trying some of the other lace offerings. Definitely give these a try!

Overall: With all that said i do think you would be better off to just buy the pickups you want and ether learn to do it yourself or just pay somebody to do it and know that everything else along with your new pickups are top notch. This in no way changes my view of Lace Sensor pickups though. I do love them and are awesome in the right situations. Aside from the hum, these golds sounded fantastic and i am glad i got this just for the pickups. Nice change from the Blue Silver Red that had been in the guitar. Still hated having to polish them but i do like the way they sound. I had read that they sounded "Happy" and that's a good description. I'll get the hum fixed but i feel like i shouldn't have to. Just get the Golds.
The Features: Hard to go wrong with a prewired one straight from the factory. Nice and convenient but should have some kind of paperwork or something with it that gives a clue as to what you are supposed to do once you have it in hand. I've wired plenty myself but just wanted to try this as i said for the convenience. A complete novice would still have to look online after purchase. Not much to ask for in my opinion. Piece of paper.
The Quality: This is where it gets disappointing. For one thing, the edges of the pickups are not "finished" like the older Sensors that i have or even the couple of ones i bought just a few years ago. In fact the whole pickup is made different, The edges were rough and i felt the need to scrape that away. This pickguard was a "facelift" for a 20+ year old Strat so looks were a little important to me. Not everything but i fixed it. I finished wiring it up in the strat. Body, Output Jack and Trem Grounds then the Positive to the Output Jack. Very Simple. Plugged it in and there's a slight hum. Not going to say that i can't make a mistake but i felt like i got good solder joints so who knows. That one is up for grabs but i feel like maybe the components other than the pickups are suspect.
Value: As far as that i don't think it is terrible but not including instructions, leaving a portion of it up to the customer to finish the product leaves everything open to interpretation when something isn't right. This pickguard should be ready to go other than soldering the output jack and screwing the ground in to the body. To me that is Prewired. But you do get 3 Golds and a nice new pickguard if all else fails.

Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
..this pick guard is sold as a 'drop-in' to any Fender Strat.. it is not. Mine had to have 9-10 new holes drilled to set it into place.. not really happy about that. I needed to have some neck work done so I just took the whole 'mess' down to my shop and had them do it all.. can't respond to the fidelity now.. I haven't played it.. or heard it.. even seen it set up as yet... I'm hoping the sound will be better than the 'fit' I had after receiving it.. disappointed.
I will re-post after I receive it back from the shop. Yea, I could have done the set-up myself if not for the fret work. However, needing to re-drill holes.. and fill the old ones.. is lame come-on Lace! this is an expensive set-up! get with it!

Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
This arrived without instructions as others have mentioned, but they are on the LACE website. 2 wires plus a couple grounds. I installed mine with AMP quick click connectors on the jack, and on both my old pickguard, and the new LACE setup. If I would ever want to throw my original setup back in, it will be as easy as changing strings and 12 screws. The screwholes did not quite match up. I have an American Standard, so I was expecting everything to match. My hum is noticably better, and the output is stronger. It still has that distinctive Strat tone. I think I will like these, and I doubt if I will ever want to put my originals back in.
Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
I just bought and recieved these after a couple of months of thinking about it. I was getting frustrated with my American Strat hum every time I played the pups in any position other than 2 &4.I missed using the neck pup. Well, after reading reviews, I finally settled on these. My main fear was they would not give me that "strat sound". I put them in two days ago, and after playing them over and over, adjusting the tone contols on my amp and guitar, I can now say these sound great! The neck position sounds as smooth as butter, the middle position, which was always kind of a plain sound to me before, sounds like a 70's strat. The 2 &4 positions are improved too, more clarity.I am not a guitar tech by any stretch, but I was able to put these in and not screw up the wiring, it's really pretty easy. These give me the sound I was hoping for, I'm more than please. Plus, they look cool too, with the gold letters. My guitar is a 2009 Amer Stand, and these make it sound so much better.

This was my 1st experience with Lace p/u's. I am very impressed with the sound and the workmanship of the pickguard. I see reviews where people were distressed over the lack of documentation. The website has everything you need, besides that, the output is wired to the center tap on the vol pot just like every other guitar out there. No big deal, really

Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
Excellent pickguard with Lace Gold pickups. Greatly improved the tone of my Blackmore strat. And, Ritchie used lace sensors. Very happy with tone. Only complaints are there was no installation instructions provided and the 11 hole pickguard DID NOT match up to the drilled holes on guitar. I had to screqw in three holes. That is total [*]. Once installed, its good to go.
Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
Putting this strat together was an exercise in patience, but it has paid off! I had this Lace setup sitting in the body for a week before the tremolo arrived via UPS, all the while dreaming what it would sound like. And there is not one regret about the sound. I have and love many SD pups but I wanted this to be a "Strat" sounding guitar. I was impressed with the Lace online videos compared with other brands and they didn't over-promise. They're great, versatility comes from being spaced the way they are. I do not think they are redundant sounding at all. Bit of a plastic "crust" around edge of pups could have been filed a bit @ the factory is only complaint.
Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
I got a couple years ago a Fender Deluxe Plus pickguard loaded with this Fender Lace Sensors Gold Pickups, I was told by some friends that this were the ultimate pickups, nothing cleaner, versatile, and for my plans "Blues Ready". Well since down here (Chile) getting quality spare parts for the guitar is only through importing them yourself, I got this second hand pickguard. after this years the pickguard was moved from a squier body, to a MIM, then to a 90s epoch Deluxe Plus (where this pickguard was originally included), I added the Fender +25db Onboard mid booster (eric clapton's and Buddy guys's signature preamp) and WOW... Sound is from graveyard quiet to ready to rock- with the PreAmp dialed at 3 mild driven blues, 6 I get Hot Sounds, at 9 is WOW really driven. even for my later Floyd's tunes the guitar is awesome.I get offers for the guitar every time I gig with it - it is really a great way to improve your guitar - I recommend 3 mod's to it: add the fender midboost preamp is like 70 bucks, get the volume capacitor mod, for keeping the tone when lowering your volume, and finally sacrifice on tremolo spring, and house the 9V battery in the back, the preamp sucks a battery every 2000-3000 hours, but if you forget to unplug your guitar the battery drains faster than you think. - some people add a on-off switch on the back modding the tremolo claw cover.

Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
Screw holes on the pickguard do not line up with the American strat. I had to force them in at angles and in one case had to drill a new hole. The selector switch towers a hole 1/4 inch above a standard fender switch, which can cause my hand to hit it when I'm playing. Also it didn't come with any extra wire to hook it up our ground it. Now that I've got my complaints out of the way, THESE PICKUPS SOUND AMAZING. They are dead quiet and wired very neatly. Also the price was right so my complaints are small. I would buy this again just for the pickups alone.

Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
As other have noted the holes on the pickguard didn't line up on my guitar. Rather than drill holes I dropped the assembly out of the lace pickguard and put them in the pickguard already on my strat. It actually matched my guitar better using my original pickguard anyway. I used the recommended pup heights that came with the setup. As far as tone goes I am completely satisfied with sounds I get. They are dead quiet. I ordered these looking for the LACE tone and I was not disappointed.

First ordered did not work. ... replacement seems OK, though mounting holes did not work for either. OK for me, as I did not like the plain white color anyhow...
Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
I inherited a late 80's/early 90's strat from my dad, complete with a set of gold lace sensors. Very Crisp, Clean tone, even does distortion fairly well. For the types of music I like to play, I would've preferred a different combination of Lace Sensors instead of all 3 of them being Gold, but I'm definitely keeping a Gold in the neck. If you are looking for rich, thick, glossy, smooth tones, without giving away too much of the classic sound of a strat, look no further. Check the gold lace sensors out.
