I use these for Delta and Piedmont style country, blues fingerpickng in the style of Rev. Gar Davis, Lightin Hopkins, and Willie McTell etc.. They are not too heavy, but ellicit a nice clear metalic tone. They have a single band that wraps your finger with small holes. Sometimes I opt for a heavier style pick depending on the tone I want to acheive which is a very personal thing; but these are very comfortable and functional, so I use these most often. They stay on snuggly and don't hurt your fingers. They offer nice tone and heck, They're Nationals so you got a name you can trust.

They just didnt fit me well. I have stubby shaped fingers. The metal was very unforgiving and often painful. They were too snug but if I opened them up a bit, then they were too loose and would turn and start to fall off. So they had to be worn tight to keep from slipping off.

I bought this as a gift for my husband to go along with his new banjo I bought for him for Christmas. These picks had the best review for newbie's so that's what I got. He liked these A LOT better than the plastic Fender picks that came with the Banjo!! I can't say if it improved the sound because he is new so we aren't really sure he just knows they felt better on his fingers

Comments about National Picks Nickel Silver Finger Picks 4-Pack:
I am just a beginner banjo player so you'll probably be hearing more from me. The delivery was extremely quick and my customer service gal was great. Thank you! I need to practice more! The picks are alot better than the plastic ones I ordered previously. I have recommended MF to a guitar player I know.
Comments about National Picks Nickel Silver Finger Picks 4-Pack:
I have previously submitted a review for these picks, but want to modify it:(1) These are bright picks. If you want a mellower sound, you might try Dunlop finger picks. (2) I like a bright sound, especially on my Rosewood/Spruce Tacoma JR55 jumbo guitar (jumbos with rosewood tend to be a bit dark...) With these National nickel silver finger picks, I felt I was still missing a bit of tone, as compared to a thin flatpick. Solution: I filed down the point, to make it more pointed (not thinner, just more pointed). I am impressed with the results! I had already done this with my thumb pick (in that case, I also thinned the tip, as well as made it more pointed). I can now get the bright, resonant tone with my jumbo when finger picking. I recommend you try this technique.

Comments about National Picks Nickel Silver Finger Picks 4-Pack:
I am happy with the fingerpicks; my problem is that I don't know how to wear or how to use them! I have read the reviews, and a gentleman wrote that we might be wearing them upside down and that the picks can be adjusted with needle nose plyers, but it does not matter how I wear them, I still am unable to use them. Maybe I should adjust them as he says, but I am afraid to damage them and not being able to use them at all. I might need to find someone who uses them to see what I am doing wrong. As for the packaging and delivery time, I find both excellent. This is my first purchase from Musiciansfriend.com and for sure I will return for purchases in the future and I will also recommend this store to all my friends and acquaintances. Thank you, Musician's Friends! You get FIVE stars from me!

If you are breaking strings with this pick you are wearing it backwards HAHAHA, funny, turn it over! curved part of pick should contact the string not the leading edge of the pick
Comments about National Picks Nickel Silver Finger Picks 4-Pack:
I got into fingerpicks when I bought my National Radiotone, 12 years ago. I just love the way they "dig into" the string. Before that it was all fingernails, as I played nylon string, exclusively, when I wasn't on the electric. At the time, I bought set of a generic National fingerpicks, which served me really well. But I've just checked out these classics and have to say that they are absolutely fantastic. On both the reso and my Martin OM-21. The articulation is so much more precise. I love them. Don't worry about breaking strings with 'em. Just get the touch and you'll be set. Great, great set of fingerpicks, people!

Comments about National Picks Nickel Silver Finger Picks 4-Pack:
I know there's no direct connection between whoever makes and markets these today to the National of old, but to my fingers, these feel a lot like the Nationals I started with in the 1970s. I still have a few pair from the 70s or 80s, and I think these are just as good. The metal appears to be the same. They are as easily bendable to adjust to the fit I like. They're comfortable. And they sound good. Wish they were as cheap as the old ones -- 15 cents each or 2 for a quarter! -- but times change. Bought these to be sure I had picks in every instrument case.
Comments about National Picks Nickel Silver Finger Picks 4-Pack:
I've been using these for over 50 years - and still have my first set that are in the banjo case.
To me, any fingerpicks are too solid and harsh on a six-string. I'm 99 percent a fingerpicker. But on a banjo they're almost mandatory for bluegrass types of picking, and on a 12-string they offer a number of technique options from straight fingerpicking to a Carter Family scratch.
They take a bit of getting used to and attention to how tight, where on the finger, etc.
They're the only fingerpicks I've been happy with, although perhaps another brand of similar design could work.
Oh - only for use with a thumbpick. I prefer the old-style "sharp" for banjo... that or any nicely-fitting thumbpick on a 12.

Great picks at a good price
Comments about National Picks Nickel Silver Finger Picks 4-Pack:
Give great tone on resonator with 13-56 strings. Comfortable and adjustable. Won't wear out. You'll probably need to twist them slightly on your finger tips to provide right-angle picking against the strings. Otherwise, you're likely to hear "pick slide". Not good for muting. Save your ring finger for that. The string-breaking reviewers must be wearing them backwards. The pick surface goes over the fleshy tip of your finger, not over the fingernail.
Comments about National Picks Nickel Silver Finger Picks 4-Pack:
I'm an acoustic player, and I like to fingerpick. I'm still waiting for my nails to grow out to get the tone I want, but I figured that fingerpicks would get me closer to sound I wanted in the meantime. I was right. I prefer it to the sound of my fingertips in most cases, and they provide a clearer and quicker attack. Not many other companies make fingerpicks, and this one is better than others I've tried.By the way, the only way you'll break or really bend strings with this is if you have on it backwards. It is easier on strings that an ordinary pick.
Comments about National Picks Nickel Silver Finger Picks 4-Pack:
I have a Martin without a pickup, and it's too quiet when I fingerpick. I tried these and thought they would be difficult to use, but they're really great and actually much easier than bare fingers. I didn't want to grow out my nails and look like a freak. They fit great, and if they're too big, just squish them a little bit for the pinky.I'm really happy with the sharpened attack and increased volume. They kind of make a standard acoustic sound a little like a harpsichord.
Comments about National Picks Nickel Silver Finger Picks 4-Pack:
It's all about sound and these get the best sound and always have. Of course you have to adjust them to fit... break out the needle nose pliers. Once you've got them customized to your fingers, nothing else comes close. They are to fingerpicks what Gibson is to banjos.
