These boom mic stands are an EXCELLENT VALUE. To be clear, I talking about the On-Stage 72010 Tripod Mic Stand with Boom 2-pack.

I have old-school heavy-duty mic stands for studio work, but needed two additional boom stands. I spent an entire evening online trying to figure out how to avoid buying junk...because so many reviews of similar stands warn of flimsy construction and weak, under-designed adjustment mechanisms.

I've had very good buying experiences with Musician's Friend, and this mic stand 2-pack seemed to be a good bet, so I placed the order and crossed my fingers. When they arrived I was very surprised at how well-built, solid and heavy-duty they are. "Heavy" in a good way, as in RIGID and not likely to bend, break or fail.

Also, some reviews warn that this style of boom mic stand is not tall enough for use as a singer's mic. I'm 6' 2" and can position the microphone well above my head, so even if you're 7 feet tall it'll still work for you!

I'm absolutely satisfied with this purchase, and the price was excellent.

I needed a couple of extra mic stands for some gigs that are coming up and picked these up on the BOGO sale. They are ok but as others have mentioned, as soon as I touched the t-bar to tighten up the boom the plastic ball end disintegrated. I had hardly even gotten it out of the package yet. I put it in the pile of my other cheap stands that I have had for a while and really, these look a little wimpy even next to my winpy stands. Oh well, it's a double sawbuck per stand. they are probably fine if you are doing some light gigging or using them at home but don't be suprised when the plastic ball falls apart on you on the first try, hehe. I will likely try another brand next time. Peace.

Comments about On-Stage Tripod Mic Stand with Boom 2-Pack:

These stands are typical for modern low quality stands. I use them at home so they will be fine. Especially for the price. I purchased some stands years back for a little more from MF. They were Proline. They weight about twice as much and the hardware is much better. But this is true of everything in todays world. Pay twice as much and get half as much. All in all not a bad stand for home or occasional stage use. I would recommend these but I would consider the intended use.

The handle to tighten the boom is quite small, and must be tightened to the max to keep the boom from slowly dropping.

Comments about On-Stage Tripod Mic Stand with Boom 2-Pack:

All metal parts.. a BIG plus! I've used a lot of cheap mic stands in my lifetime, and I think these are among the best value. The clamps on this stand are more durable than most. These aren't necessarily road worthy if you're playing playing out every night, but for band practice or holding miss in a studio setting, they're GREAT.

We use these mic stands weekly and so far have held up to packing - un packing (which is when the cheap ones break). They're sturdy yet light enough to transport easily. Great stand for the money.

Bought these for overhead mics and they work great. They're also good for any other microphone scenario. They might seem a bit weak but as long as they are treated decently, they will last.

              • Small Unidirectional Mics

Comments about On-Stage Tripod Mic Stand with Boom 2-Pack:

This is a very good value and especially suited to unidirectional or overhead mic use as long as the mic isn't heavy and stand adjustments are infrequent. Ideal for miking pianos, drums, cymbals, etc. We are using them for overhead drum and cymbal mics in a studio and garage. Small unidirectional mics and lightweight vocal mics work well with this stand, but is not quite rigid or stable enough for a substantial vocal mic (e.g. SM58 or heavier unit.) Such a lightweight, but top-heavy stand needs to be sandbagged in outdoor use when wind is present. The pivot and tube adjustments are good, but not robust enough to withstand the rigors of heavy performance use. I am very pleased with it for our needs.

Comments about On-Stage Tripod Mic Stand with Boom 2-Pack:

Footprint is too big but the boom part can be put on to another base. Color is excellent to keep from detracting from the look of stage - they match speakers, etc. Good for the price. Shipping was quick and without damage.

I ordered these for my brother. We thought that since the stands would not be moved from gig to gig they'd be ok. Plastic parts broke as I was setting up the stands for him. Very lightweight. I'd not order these again.

Comments about On-Stage Tripod Mic Stand with Boom 2-Pack:

The threads strip quite easily on the big nut thingy that tightens the boom shaft onto the base shaft. I ordered 4 of these and all four were stripped before they even tried to get tight and it wasn't me overtightening them. I bought 5 of these On Stage Combo packs a couple years ago and all 10 of those stands are still going strong but these new versions are not nearly as well built or sturdy. Aside from stripping out, they just feel cheap overall unlike the previous version. What a shame.

These stands were a great deal. The only flaw I have found so far is that the cable clips that come with it are EXTREMELY FRAIL. Both of Mine broke the first time I used them. They snap right in half. Otherwise the stand seems to be decent. You cant beat the price tag. For that kind of money I'll let my cords dangle.

The metal in these stands is such poor quality that the threads stripped out the first time I tried to screw the boom onto the base. I know how to avoid cross-threading, but this thing shredded the threads without even binding up. Very disappointed in these stands!

Comments about On-Stage Tripod Mic Stand with Boom 2-Pack:

Usually for a package deal at this price the stands you get are flimsy, have lots of plastic and will not hold heavy microphones securely. usually the boom angle adjustment will not tighten enough.
These stands are much more sturdy with higher quality build and components than usually seen at this price or in this type of package deal. I would use these stands in any type of situation, from a home studio to a large live venue - and everything in between

I knew these wouldn't be heavy-duty, long-term reliable stands (for that purpose, I'm happy with DR stands), but I just needed a few stands for band practice at home. They have a decent weight/strength to them that is better than other budget stands I've bought before (i.e. a Pyle 2-pack I once got). They won't be traveling much, if at all, so I think they'll do just fine. If you're looking for something to use live, or something that will be packed up/transported/traveled a lot, I strongly recommend spending the money on DR stands and enjoying the investment.

Comments about On-Stage Tripod Mic Stand with Boom 2-Pack:
