If I were at a level where "other people" were handling my gear - throwing it into trucks and stuff - of course I would have an anvil flight case for everything. But - I think this is a pretty nice case for the "rest of us". I really don't have any problem with it - good SKB construction.

I read other reviews where people were dis-satisfied with the latches - and they are some kind of plastic (although I bet it's a good kind of plastic)- and they do sort of "stick out" - and it would be nice if they were somehow "recessed" - but - that would affect certainly the size of the case - the weight of the case (heavier) - and also the cost of the case - I suppose.

I AM going to try to remember to close my case when the guitar is not in it - and keep the latches "latched" so they don't get banged and bust off - so I guess that's a good "head's up" from someone.

I also have a SKB case for my mixer - and it uses those same latches - I've had it for a few years now - and never had an issue - but the mixer case (while the latches are not actually recessed) - does have some "contours" that would serve to protect the latches somewhat.

I don't know. When I'm loading the van for a "gig" - I have to load probably 40 different pieces of gear - all the powered speakers - the mixer - guitars - drums - bags and bags of cords - lights blah blah blah - it does become a bit of a chore. I try to be as gentle as possible - but stuff does end up just sort of getting chunked in there (everything in it's place - of course). I'm not worried about it - this case will be great - and will give adequate protection - I am sure.

My last case was NOT a SKB - but it WAS made from similiar materials - and it lasted like 20 years. Good enough. I would say this case is better constructed than that case was.

I looked at custom flight cases - but they were like "expensive". My accountant said "um - I don't think so". This case will be fine.

My guitar is a Yamaha LL6 - (just a regular dreadnaught body) - and it "fits" the case fine!

This is a great case all around. You can tell that great thought has been put into this case at every detail except for one thing... the latches. They look great and are smooth, BUT be careful you don't leave it open and accidentally hit the end of it! Because it is so long (1.5-2 inches) and it's plastic, any impact on the end of an open latch (even slight) will cause it to break off the case. I did that with minimal impact and it cracked. The latches are made to be replaced, but you'll have to bend the foam back to gain access to the screws and the case will never be quite the same again. I wish I would have saved the money and bought the economy model. Since I keep my guitar in its case when I'm not playing it, I open and close the latches A LOT so the latches are important. Everything else about the case is so well thought out except for these plastic latches that don't seem built to last. If this case had smaller metal latches, it would be the "perfect case."

Comments about SKB Deluxe Universal Dreadnought Guitar Case:

I would give the case five stars if not for this one reason. This case was purchased as a gift that was specifically requested by the person it is being given to. It was requested because of the quality of the brand. I was searching for a case that would fit a specific guitar. The description on the Musician's Friend website made it VERY difficult to know if this was the exact case I was looking for. The description did NOT give the model number, and the measurements were a little different than the ones on the SKB website. After chatting with two different customer service representatives and going through the case finder, I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase the case. When the case was delivered, what did I find on the box? The model number that I needed to know but no one could tell me. The model number 1-SKB18 should definitely be on the Musician's Friend website.

Comments about SKB Deluxe Universal Dreadnought Guitar Case:

I've bought this case back in 2006 and it's the only acoustic case I use. I transport my guitar in it to practice, to shows, even across the country multiple times. You could say I'm a credible source.

Back in 2006, I was attracted by SKB's very confident lifetime warranty. What ultimately sold me was an SKB review I read in which a guy had his bass in an SKB on a trailer. While driving, the guitar fell onto the road and was run over. The case was destroyed, but the guitar was completely fine. Sure, that story seemed like a stretch, but it sold me. Since then, I bought two more SKB cases for other guitars.

Fast forward to 2014 as I write this. I just took my acoustic on a weekend trip to the beach in my 8-year-old SKB case. I've known for 8 years this thing is a tank. Well, how about water damage? Long story short, I took my guitar to the beach, forgot about it, and the tide rose. My case, guitar inside, was floating in the salt water, the wake crashing over it. No doubt in my mind - my guitar was murdered. I brought it to shore, opened it, and to my shock, the only water that was inside the case were the drips from opening it.

If 8 years and 3 SKB cases wasn't enough to convince me, I am certain now. I am so grateful I made this purchase, and will continue to do so. Do yourself a favor and never buy a case that isn't SKB.

Comments about SKB Deluxe Universal Dreadnought Guitar Case:

As the Musical Director of "The Stone House Band" I purchased a vintage Fender 12 string to further diversify the sound of our band and I couldn't be more satisfied with the fit and protection this case provided to my investment. The amount of travel involved in just getting to rehearsals and possible exposure to risk of constant loading in and out of studios has been has been reduced to zero in my opinion as this case more than exceeded my expectations

            not sure yet
I just ordered this case for my son's Martin & it should be fine, although he has his guitar at college. I will see him this weekend & we will find out. It arrived in just 3 days with free shipping & seems to be sturdy. The bummer is that it is NOT made in USA ?! The online pics clearly show a USA label & although SKB is based in California, this case is made in China - bummer. American jobs at stake, c'mon people !!!! We will wait to see how it fits the Martin before deciding to keep it or not. Some other reviews say it tends to be a little too roomy. But the price was right & Musicians Friend is always good to order from.

Comments about SKB Deluxe Universal Dreadnought Guitar Case:

This is a great case for a great price. Musician's Friend has the cheapest price for this case of anyone I saw on the web. The TSA locks are "amazing", I don't have to worry about some of the latches "accidentally" coming open. The case is large, sturdy, and strong, yet not too heavy. It fits my Martin 0001XEA (sp) perfectly! The interior is nice, soft, and is great on the acoustic guitar. If this case broke (which I don't see that ever happening) I would definitely replace it. Musician's Friend had it shipped within 24 hours and it even came a day earlier than expected. If you're thinking about getting this case, don't think, just BUY IT! You won't regret it. -happy playing

I recieved this case as a Christmas gift a few years ago. Two weeks after I got it, an 18-year-old in my youth group jumped over a couch and landed on it. I've had people fall on it and smash it into things, and airlines throw it around, and it still doesn't have any dents in it. I love how durable it is without being too heavy. I definitly recommend it for anyone who wants to protect their instrument with the best.

I just returned from a trip to Padre Island were i played a beach wedding...four plane rides and no damage whatsoever, not even a scratch... granted since i traveled american airlines, they have a policy that allows musical instruments as your carry-on. two of the flights i was able to put my guitar in the captains closet, but the other two smaller planes i had to gate check it. i was nervouse because it still gets thrown around but the case and guitar made it like a champ, plus i got some looks from other travelers becuase this case looks professional all the way. great case and a great price

Comments about SKB Deluxe Universal Dreadnought Guitar Case:

I own 4 SKB cases now, 2 economy and 2 deluxe for different types of guitars and they are heads above the other brands of cases I own. I always look at SKB's first then others but usually end up back at SKB's.
Good case for that extra level of protection and for piece of mind that your guitar will be the same when you take it out as when you put it in.
TSA locks, heavier gauge handle and plastic shell, same plush green interior
            SKB - 'nuff said
A little pricey but for higher end guitars or road warriors its worth it. I have looked around and could not find a better price for this same case at this time.

Comments about SKB Deluxe Universal Dreadnought Guitar Case:

This is a very well made case. Plenty of room inside and keeps the guitar very safe. My only complaint, and only reason for giving it less than a 5.0 is that the lock is very cheap. It comes with two keys, but only one of them worked with my lock. With the working key, it was still very difficult to lock/unlock. Still, this is a very little factor and I honestly doubt I will ever have a need to lock the case. I would recommend this case to anyone.

My son needed a hard case for the acoustic guitar my brother custom-built. While it is an OM size guitar, the custom carved body led us to need larger depth, thus we bought this dreadnought case. The guitar fit perfectly, with only a little bit of space around it. And the storage compartment is roomy. My son will be traveling to college in the fall as well as study abroad in the future. He only had a soft-sided gig bag, so we wanted an acoustic case that was well-built/sturdy, functional, provided good cushioning on the inside, and would be suited for plane travel (thus TSA locks). This one has it all!

Comments about SKB Deluxe Universal Dreadnought Guitar Case:

This is my second SKB case for air travel. With a little extra padding my Taylor 616 fits snugly in this generic "universal dreadnought" case. Much lighter than my regular Taylor-issued guitar case so it is MUCH easier (on this aging back!) to carry. Only concern is that the frame seems to be slightly warped as shutting the case (on the headstock end ) is a bit tricky. You REALLY have to push down hard to get it to 'click' into place, before the latches will latch. Hence the 4 stars rather than 5.
This may be production issue. SKB might need to check on their quality control procedures.

would order this again for my next guitar build.

Comments about SKB Deluxe Universal Dreadnought Guitar Case:

I just built a new electric acoustic dreadnaught guitar. I needed a case to cary it to shows. We play at nursing and senior housing facilities. It was well padded with plenty of room for accessories and strings.
