I needed a really sturdy clamp so that I could hold my 12" tom on my crash stand, and I was looking around for one that would hold something that heavy. I was sceptical in buying this because of the price. It was perfect! Before buying this I used my friends clamp(pearl) and this one is much sturdier and has way more functions. Don't think twice! buy this today!
Wow!!! I was very suprised when I opened this one. I haven't used it on a gig yet but I can't wait. Just buy one and try it out, it's half the price of the Gibraltar (that I have not used) but I think it will be great!
This clamp is wonderful! It holds very securely and is easy to use. The rotating feature is very nice and offers limtless positioning. By far the best feature of this clamp is that it comes apart in the middle. When the clamp is in two pieces, you fit the two "ends" together and then tighten it down with two drum key operated bolts, which hold very securley. This is a great feature to have, because you can leave whatever the clamp is holding in place when you pack up! For example, I use this clamped to a cymbal stand, and the other end of the clamp holds a boom arm for a splash cymbal. When I go to pack up, I can leave the boom arm in the clamp (just rotate the boom arm down so it's out of the way) and I can also leave the other end clamped to the cymbal stand. I simply take it apart in the middle! This saves TONS of time! It easy setting up too, because all I have to do is put the clamp together and put the boom in position, and I'm ready to go! It sure beats having to take the entire clamp off the stand, and then having to search for it at the bottom of the hardware case at the next gig! This is a great clamp! You'll love it!
This is the best of the best when it comes to clamps. I've been playing for 13 years so I know a good clamp when I see one and this clamp, for the price it's at, is the best buy ever. Extremely versatile and interchangeable, able to fit in almost any spaces. The only complaint that I might have would be that it's a little bulky, but thats extremely nit-picky, and besides, that just ensures that it solid. Overall=The best bang for your buck in the category of add-on components!!! : )
