Comments about Remo Powermax 2 Marching Bass Drum Head:
This really is a great product! The Powermax 2 bass heads have such an articulate and resonant sound; they have a fantastic punch to them! When we were putting these heads on, me and another tech were worried about the amount of muffling that was included as we didn't want the basses to overbalance the marching ensemble. But we found that once we had put the heads on with the included muffling ring, the sound was PERFECT! They blended so well with the band, and actually allowed them to cut through and hold their voice in the mix. The muffling ring is really all you need for a great sound, although I am curious how they would sound for an indoor group. We've had problems with included muffling before only because it was only portions of felt and not a full ring, so it would dislodge from the head and it was a hassle to take the head off and fix it. It seems like common sense, but Remo seems to be the only one to figure out that a full ring of muffling is the best solution. Time will tell how durable these heads are, but until then, it is a WONDERFUL product, and a great investment.
