I bought this rack about a half a year ago, and it is no good. I would not spend this kind of money on this rack, when there are many others to choose from.
First the good: The wires are routed in the tubes and it's pre-wired for 4 aux inputs. It's also great from a portability standpoint because the vertical legs telescope allowing it to fit into most cars easily. Now the bad: The tom mounts are about as cheap as you can get. You can easily move the toms around even with the clamps fully tightened. Also, the basic design of the rack is not very well thought out because the vertical tubes have an unnecessary arc that makes angling some of the cymbal booms difficult. At first I thought the cymbal booms that mount in the two main vertical tubes was a good idea, but in reality it's not. There are much better racks for a lot less money!
I started playing drums on a TD-3SW and have been upgrading module, pads, and cymbals gradually. After I was done upgrading (TD-20, PD-125, 3xPD-105, 2xCY-14, CY-15R, KD-85, made a CY-8 the hi-hat and the CY-5 a splash), the original rack (MDS-3C) was so cramped it wasn't even funny. (I also never liked having the hi-hat pad so far ahead, which is a limitation of the MDS-3C because of the position of the electronic module.)After hesitating a lot, mainly because of the price tag, I finally decided to take the plunge and get the MDS-20. I set it up today and played for over an hour. All I can say is... Wow. This rack gives me easily twice as much space as the MDS-3C, it's planted solid like a rock, it has super-tidy cabling, and it just looks great.I don't quite get people's gripe with the clamps. Yes, the plastic looks a bit cheap, but they do the trick.
