OVERVIEW

Better highs, better lows, and you still get the Strat quack.

The Five-Two utilizes sand cast Alnico 5 magnets on the 3 low strings. This adds more definition and punch to the bottom end. Alnico 2 magnets on the 3 high strings give a warm and smooth top end without sacrificing that great Strat  "quack." The Five-Two answers Strat players' complaints that their low strings sound too mushy while their high strings are too bright.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Five-Two Strat Pickup White Cover:

This is the most well balanced neck pickup out there. It sounds EXACTLY like a vintage Strat neck pickup should. It's wonderfully clear, creamy, and as close to vintage as you can get without spending oodles of cash. It is a relatively low output pickup, so be sure to check the output of your other pickups before installing it, because you'll end up with a significant difference in dB (like me with my Hot Rails in the bridge, oops!).

Comments about Seymour Duncan Five-Two Strat Pickup White Cover:

Put this pickup in the neck position of a Squier '51. My band mates liked the sound of this axe, but I felt that the stock neck pup was brittle- sounding and lacked the depth and bell-like tone that we all know and love. In my opinion, the '51 is a beautifully designed guitar, but the components are cheap, so with a few well placed upgrades (pups, bridge), a superior instrument could be made. I played the new pickup clean, and the difference is immediately evident. "The Wind Cries Mary" shimmered as it should. Should have done this years ago!

      Service and delivery comments:

This was not up to my usual MF experience. First when I called, the rep said it wasn't in stock, and would have to be ordered from Seymour Duncan. Next day, I got an email stating it was in stock after all. I don't remember all the details (or phone calls, or emails), but I got the pickup two weeks after placing the order. Fortunately, the pickup was worth the trouble.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Five-Two Strat Pickup White Cover:

I've had this set of 3 in a strat since they came out. These are clean and creamy, well defined pickups. Off course, you'd find better pups for high gain, metal etc. styles but for Blues, country, even classic and hard rock you can't beat these. If you want a classic strat vintage sound, that keeps that strat quack, and that is very articulate and balances try these out, and they sure beat shelling out hundreds for some actual 50's stratocaster pickups.
