The slide is mounted on a ring, which allows the slide to roll around to the back side of the finger when not in use. The action of the slide ring is smooth and consistent. It does take some getting used to; it has considerable mass, and your slide finger won't be at 100% when the slide is around back, but it works well for switching between standard chording and slide work.
The description here as well as the manufacturer's own website imply a benefit of uninterupted playing between slide and fretted play, flick of a thumb and so on. not completely true, the time it takes to reposition this slide accurately is the same amount of time it takes to add and remove a conventional slide that costs much less. For the same money, I would suggest buying several different slides for different effects and techniques.
Okay, it took me a few days to get used to it. But once I did, it really opened up new possibilities for me. Give it a shot, and stick with it for a while.
I expected this product to have some drawbacks form a standard slide but i actually prefer it over my real slides. The way it is shaped can let u rest a finger or two on the side which gives you increased speed and accuracy, at first when playing it in non slide mode your ring finger will be slightly hampered by it but if u play with it on constantly for a week your finger will be just as good, same concept for the switching from slide to non slide mode, it takes a while but its very worth it
