Some years ago I had a LR Bean I beam pickup installed. I purchashed a Fishman Perfomer Pro amp that cost a lot of cash at the time. I hated the sound, thougt it was the pickups. Evenually I sold the amp and just gave up on the guitar as an electric. Then a few weeks ago I purchased the Acoustic 40 Watt amp just for S..t's and giggles.
Wow, is all I can say. The guitar sounded unbelievable. Feedback which was always a problem with the Fishman is under controll. What a sweet little amp.

Let's start with the good. Nice sound. Looks good. Average portability. Many good DSP presets. 8 inch speaker is a nice size. Good feedback control. Bluetooth is nice. Great price. Dual 1/4 or XLR is good. Pre out with variable volume is good. Ok now the not so good. 40 watts solid state is not very much at all. Would be hard to play in anything but a small room. EQ doesn't seem to do much but takes up space. Main DSP settings are good. The DSP buttons are confusing. Takes a long time to learn and even then isn't intuitive. Manual doesn't explain much at all and there's little references online. I got it, but when I did I saw the short comings. Unlike the competitors there's no way to limit the effects to an input. In other words if you like reverb on the guitar it appears you're stuck with it on the voice too. Also, if you want to put a custom name to save presets it's difficult to enter letters. Seems like half the alphabet is there or something. Bluetooth button is way on the back instead of being close to the bluetooth light in the front. Finding it the 1st time is an adventure. I'm a programmer and when things are this confusing it annoys me. If you can live with the standard presets and don't care that the DSP effects aren't exclusive to input 1 or 2 (1 typically has the guitar and 2 has a mic) and can live with not too much volume that this is it. For me it's not. I'll upgrade to a classic acoustic amp that has a good track record even if it's a little more expensive.

Comments about A40 40W Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I ordered this amp under the impression that it was an open box, but the amp was in 100 percent working from factory condition. I received my gear very quickly which was awesome, but when I opened the box and expected to be able to hook up my Boss RC-300 and stuff up to not and jam. Well... The amp was completely useless. The amp put out zero sound under any condition and had the worst buzz when just sitting plugged in. I bought this amp because the website said it was in perfect working order, which it was not. When I called musicians friend to rectify the situation, the very best they could come up with was to email me a shipping label and I could mail them the faulty amp back and I could buy a new amp at full price. Well this doesn't sit very well with me. If someone orders an amp that you specifically say works on your website and when they get it has zero capacity to operate as an amp, we clearly have a bigger problem than just a refund. I will forever question the intergrity of this company as a whole. This is not the way to treat customers who spent money at your business.

Comments about A40 40W Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I would have been 100% satisfied for a replacement Acousic A40 amp OR a repaired Acoustic A40 amp. As it sits, I have had to call in my order, wait for shipping, received a broken product, sat on the phone to be told that I had to ship the product back for a refund which still hasn't happened. I was contacted via Twitter by a "Gearhead" that said they would look into the situation. That was last week. All the while, my money is tied up and I have no amp, let alone the one I really wanted, with the features that I NEEDED in the first place. Maybe Santa will bring me an Acoustic A40 amp for Christmas. It's about as likely to happen as anything else.

Comments about A40 40W Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Basically, this amp is too quiet for a band situation with a drummer, even the lightest hitting drummer using tiny sticks. Had it on 10 and it was impossible to hear with vocalist, bass and drums. There is also an annoying low end frequency thing that goes on when you hit open E chords or even a G chord. Can't dial it out. The feedback suppression doesn't work very well either. It's basically a toy for beginning musicians and basement strummers who feel the need to have an amp. Sound quality wise, it's maybe a 1/8 of a step up from a monitor. The effects are just decent. A pedal board and a monitor will give you better results. I run a Taylor acoustic/electric.

The unit has all sorts of useful and beautiful effects. However, none of these can be fed to the direct output. So the effects are strictly for your enjoyment, not the audience, if you are feeding the signal to the front of house using the direct output. The EQ has a pre/post switch, but not the effects. Same goes for the effects loop. But it does sound nice. I just wouldn't waste much time tweaking all the effects as they aren't going to get to the audience anyway.

I only have raves about this powerful little amp!. I haven't bought an amp in years, in fact the last amp I bought was a Peavy. It doesn't even come close to the sound quality and performance of this amp. The value I received for the price paid is more than you bargained. The Bluetooth addition makes the amp so much more, when I buy my next amp, it will be the larger Acoustic Amp. This A40 Rocks! You won't be disappointed at all.

Comments about A40 40W Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Good design choices by the engineers. Most amps in this "middle weight" category, (40-60 watts), have two channels with dedicated tone controls for each. If the amp has to double as a P.A. that's a useful feature. However, I wanted the best sound, and features in an acoustic amp for the studio, and I didn't need a second channel for PA. The acoustic A40 has better features and costs less than the competition. Instead of a full second channel, they put the money in features that make it a better amp. 8" coax speaker instead of 6.5". It has excellent sounding digital reverb and effects, (complete with LCD status window), that can be edited and saved. Has an excellent XLR and 1/4" line out with level control. The variable mid-range control allows you to boost or cut the midrange, and change the center point frequency of the midrange control from 500 to 1.2K Hz. If you can't dial in a good sound with that much control over the all important midrange, you need to choose a different instrument. (Tip...instead of boosting the midrange, set the frequency control at about the "10:00" position, (about 800 Hz), and turn the midrange control nearly all the way down, scooping the nasal sounding mids out. With boosted high and low end you will get a very satisfying acoustic tone indeed! ). It has automatic DSP based feedback control, (competitors make you manually find the bad frequencies and turn them down manually).
Although there is no actual "reverb level knob", the mix/level parameter of the reverb is easily changed and saved as a user program slot. Since most of us usually play with the same level of reverb, most of the time, this is not much of a down side. I'd rather have the excellent semi-parametric midrange control, than a reverb knob with the limited space available on the faceplate for knobs.
