As many already know, This is the standard rock bass cab! I cant imagine somebody who plays live music being unhappy with this cab. Unless, your Victor Wooten/ you need special metal speaker cones to be heard/ bad back / you take the bus!
This cab has it all. For being the largest piece of equipment we have to lug around, Ampeg made sure they added a few features to make life easier. It's got wheels, kick plate , solid metal grab handle and I like the plastic sliders down the back! It did not get a 10 because the tolex is very thin and seems to rip easier then any other cab. Also, as many have already mentioned, Its heavy.
To me the quality comes out through the cabinet and speakers! I have played a few different heads through it over the years and it even made a 180watt '83 peavey sound good! I have owned and played through Ampeg 4X10hlf and Ampeg 6X10, even some 2X15's but nothing likes to be pushed as hard as the 8X10. Of course, all the cabs I mentioned have all the deep deep low's one could ever want but Ampeg just got the formula rite on this cab and growls like no other. Just sounds better then anything when in a high gain guitar driven band!!!
Like any of my favorite pieces of gear, Its not cheap! But unless you have already owned one and try'n something new or playing music other then thrash metal, I still don't see the Value in needing to spend more for a cab like Eden, Aguilar, Mesa the list goes on and on. I personally play a Mesa Mpulse600 and I think it has all the tone I would ever need and sounds perfectly balanced through the Ampeg cab. The perfect speaker breakup and The perfect rig for me!

I love the sound of this cabinet and wouldn't trade it for another as far as sound is concerned, but for 1000 retail, the tolex is pathetic. It is the absolute worst tolex job I've seen and that's including my 40 year old peavey cabs. I am very disappointed in the already peeling after 2 weeks tolex that looks like it was put on by children. Yet, you get a cabinet for the sound, just disappointing that they don't have more pride in their work. After I spend another 200 to get it tolexed properly, it will be an irreplaceable part of my rig

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
I use this cab in conjunction with my SVT4, run bridged mono. POWER POWER POWER! The tone is unmatched, and my rig is the envy of almost every bass player who has come accross it.
You would be stupid not to buy one of these. If you're a pro, or even thinking about playing a live show, this is the cab for you. I got mine for free from a friend who quit. It's an american made cab (good luck finding one of those anymore), and it's beat to hell. The case covering is gone, I've drug the thing down a million flights of stairs, it was hit by a drunk driver, and is covered in "street art" provided by Don't Fret (artist). Still sounds incredible, though. This is the single most reliable hunk of junk I have ever had the pleasure of playing.
Buy. This. Cab. Dummy.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
the ampeg 8x10 is the definitive pro cabeinet for bass players, and has been since the seventies. it sounds wonderful with its ringing clear tones, thunderous (for tens) lows, and inner ear shattering volume. overall, a good purchase, and i do recommend it. however, they are no longer american made! mine was produced in china, and the svt head i was going to buy new was made in korea. i got a used american head which to me is all the difference, but unfortunately, a good condition used american cab is difficult to come by. do your homework and shop around!
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
I've owned this cabinet and toured all over the country with it for over a year. It gets the job done, but if you want superior quality, tone, an customer service, go with an Aguilar instead. I replaced my SVT-810E with an Aguilar DB810, and I haven't looked back. Compare the specs. You'll find that the DB810 is FAR better than the Ampeg.p.s. Ampeg, try making wheels that don't keep breaking off.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
2 tours, 135 shows and I am here to tell you this is the cab that will go the miles. Punchy with out being muddy, and able to take what every head you plug into it. This is a pro's cab not the kinda thing your going to shove into the back of your Honda Civic. I tour with 2 of these and it takes a trailer to do it. All the weight of the cab is more then worth for the sound. When you play bass you want your sound to be felt and herd, to do that your going to need a wall of speakers... This is a wall on wheels. From smooth to grind you will be able to pull out the sound you want. The only complaint about this cab is all aesthetic. For reasons that work against everything ever, Ampeg has never gotten away from using tolex and acoustic fabric to cover the sides and speakers respectively. That being said as your grand mother covered her beloved couch with plastic, so should you cover this with a good live in case. You paid a grand for this cab don't be cheep in the care of it. IF you take care of it, IT will take care of you! This maybe the cab your father depended on but with the right sound re-enforcement you will get a tone he never thought about! And don't worry this bad boy can take the highest powered, pickups and the hottest pre-amp you can throw at it.Pairs up nicely with any Ampeg head or Line 6 products. In the end this cab has the only two things that really matter.Dependability and Tone.Thats all you will ever need!

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
You can actually feel the notes coming out of this thunderous cab like a punch to the chest. A jet engine produces 140db of sound and this cab will cut through a mix of jetliners like they weren?t even there. The 810E produces great tones due to it?s internal 210 x 4 internal cabinets construction. You can go as loud as you want and still keep all the great tone and fidelity you want. This cab was made to be played mono bridged through a 1600w amp and longs to be connected to a ?big gun? amp; Mesa, Ampeg, GK, Carvin, SWR, you name it. The bigger the amp, the better, it has no limits. Don?t stand in front of this cab at full power, it may be dangerous. Mine is mono bridged into an SVT 4 Pro. Make sure you?re using the correct Ampeg wired Speakon connector to get all the power from your amp. You will feel the difference.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
As a 30 year music veteran I have been using Ampeg since I was in high school. I play regularly in an AC/DC Tribute Band in Atlanta and play out every weekend (for the past 5 years) in clubs that hold 100 people to arena's with 9000 in the stands. I bought this as a second cab for backup and on stage in large venues where I double up the cabs. This cab is lighter I guess due to plywood vs OSB. My personal opinion is it sounds very brittle and harsh compared to the smooth, creamy and roundness of the older cabs probably due to the plywood and different speakers they now use. I really don't like the sound and wish I would have returned the cab before my time was up to do so. I am going to sell it and find an older one. I haven't had any of the Tolex or caster problems the previous posters mentioned. I have to answer the bottom line question and am recommending Ampeg but not this cabinet. I am a loyal Ampeg customer and continue to buy their products but only used and made in USA. BTW: I play an Ampeg SVT4-Pro thru this cab with no effects and a Music Man Stingray bass.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
I just recently purchased this bad boy and let me tell you, I couldn't have been any happier. Its one heavy monster, but the back handle and wheels make transporting this beast much easier (like using a dolly). I use an ampeg BR2E Amp Head....it only pushes 450 watts through the cab (the cab has about 1800 watts handling power) but believe me, with this cab, it rattles any joint! I plan on upgrading soon to and SVT3Pro or SVT4Pro. If you've been thinking of purchasing this cab, do it!! You won't regret it and you'll be getting the best of the best when it comes to bass amps and cabs!!!
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
Ampeg means quality gear in the bass world. It's the sound you recognize and the name you can trust. With that in mind, there's no question why every pro bass player seems to stand in front of an 810 cabinet. Simply put - an Ampeg 810 is the bar by which every other cab is measured. But what makes this cab stand out? It's a massive wall of sound. It pounds out thunderous lows with a dense tone. If you need to shake the walls of any club, you can count on this cab to do the job. I've been playing on one since I was 16. I saved for months while working at a grocery store, and the day I bought my first 810 was the single greatest day of my bass career. If you need the real deal, regardless of size and weight, get this cab. You can always find roadies to help you lug it around. Trust me... it's more than worth the trouble and the cost.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
I desired an Ampeg 8x10 since I started playing bass 6 years ago. I finally was able to afford one this summer and took a shot at buying one. I've used a lot of cabs in the past 6 years, SWR, Peavey, Hartke, Fender, among a few. The sound of the Ampeg 8x10 is the best around. The quality is amazing, I was blown away when I learned that I could it as a 4x10 as well as an 8x10. It's very durable and will last you the rest of your life.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
I've always been Ampeg all the way after hearing them for the first time. I used to run an Ampeg 4x10"+1x15" but still wasnt completely satisfied. It sounded great but simply wasn't quite loud enough. Now, using the svt-810, I am completely satisfied! Great response all around! Sounds perfect using my Warwick Thumb, American Jazz, or Gibson Thunderbird! No wander it's the industry standard! Advice: buy a flight case for it! they get tore up gigging!
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
This cabinet is pure genius! It sounds amazing with practically any head. It pumps plenty of power, more than you'll ever need! This purchase is worth the money.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
i run an ampeg 350H head through this 8X10 and its uterly amazing. though the cab wieghs a ton and if needing lifting into say the back of a truck... its good to have a second set of hands. all in all great tone the speakers react amazing to any style of playing ... i love it!
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
I have this cab with an original magnavox 1970 Svt head, Man the low end just kicks you down especially with a fine gibson thunderbird in front by far the best thing I have ever bought- only problem cumbersome and very heavy hard to travel light but worth the cash.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
I've played through many of these. If you play a Fender P or J Bass, a Gibson Thunderbird, a Rickenbacker 4001/3, or even a Warwick 4-string, this cab will, as Ampeg says, "kill small furry animals at 40 paces". I won't discount any of that, and paired with a 300-Watt all-tube head of various manufacturers, you won't be disappointed!
But it's bone-crushingly, back-breaking heavy. Touted as "the fridge"--the reason is, it weighs about that much. It has a general tone (nothing exciting), and doesn't go low enough to bring out the bellow of a B-string. Most B-strings get lost on this cab, unfortunately--although you can EQ the punchy-side back in. The 4 sealed enclosures inside don't offer quite enough volume to give the low end its due, or the drivers are too stiff. But take the bad with the good. If you want to own a stage, play a 4-string through this cab and command the audience!! For me, it's what it is, an industry standard--but it never sounds exciting on its own. You won't stand out, but you'll make the band sound better.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
I love my fridge sized SVT810E. Paired up with my SVT III Pro, the sound is unbeatable. Eventually I would like to upgrade to owning one more SVT810E, and the SVT all tube classic. But as of right now this is just fine with me. I don't really find this cab that hard to move around. I personally would prefer to wheel this baby around as oppossed to lugging around two 4/10's. I also love the looks I get when I wheel this badboy into the venue for soundcheck, always a good time. Sounds great onstage. Ampeg is where it's at when it comes to Rock n Roll low end driving.
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
used this cab at a huge venue, it had plenty of headroom with the svt re-issue, it sounded amazing, it's going to be my next amp i buy, i loved it over my hartke full stack
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
The Ampeg 8x10 has been the worldwide standard for pretty much every musical genre known to man for 30+ years. This should say it all. The Ampeg is the only 8x10 that I've played through that gets awesome highs without a tweeter. It also vibrates the floors... a testament to its lows. I drive mine with an Ampeg SVT-3 PRO and its beautiful... you can get so many different sounds with the pairing. The 8x10 can take such huge loads that if you did manage to find a poweramp too big for it... at that point you should have enough money for another 8x10. C'mon folks... this is the Marshall of Bass cabs!
Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:
i use a SVT-CL through this cab and ill never buy a different cab again its simply awsome.I have owned many cabs in the years ive played and the SVT-810E is hands down the best ive ever had!
