OVERVIEW

If the meat and potatoes of rock is to your liking, you'll live happily ever after with all the timeless tone in this impressive little stompbox.

It doesn't get much more classic than the Behringer Tube Overdrive TO100. Unlike the heavily saturated distortion sounds found in most metal and hard rock pedals, this little dirt box produces the harmonic grind that occurs naturally when a tube amp is cranked up nice and loud. The TO100 is extremely versatile and ultra-responsive.

With its simple Drive, Tone and Level dials, you can harness any degree of overdrive--from slightly dirty to hot and crunch! The blue LED tells you when it's activated, and the durable on/off switch maintains crystal-clear signal integrity in bypass mode.

FEATURES
  • Tube-like distortion, smooth sustain and super fat tone
  • Captures every nuance of your playing
  • Dedicated Drive, Tone and Level controls
  • Status LED
  • Runs on 9V battery or the Behringer PSU-SB DC power supply
  • First-class electronic on/off switch
  • High-quality components and rugged construction

If the essence of rock is what you seek, then call or click to pick up the TO100.

I have an old Fender Twin Reverb that I wanted to dirty up a bit. This pedal does it cheaply and does it well. Yes, it's made of plastic, but I found the construction robust. Switch and bypass are both quiet.
Has a nice crunch, especially with strong pickups like humbuckers or old P-90s. Pretty good control over drive, tone and output gain. Four stars instead of five because at the lowest drive setting, it's too crunchy for me. I would like to be able to get just a little bit of that breakup, but it goes from none (off) to a little too much overdrive for my taste.
Other reviews say it eats batteries. As long as I unplug it after I use it, have not had that issue. Plus, you can use it with an external power supply.
I don't play metal, and you can't get that extreme overdrive with just this pedal. But you can get some pretty intense crunch if you use it in front of another overdrive channel.
This is great for those times when I don't want everything Fender clean. And with such a reasonable price, it's a great addition to my gear.

I have a number of Behringer pedals as their price point has allowed me to experiment with which pedals I needed after getting my first tube amp. I have a number of OD pedals but priced less than 2 Happy Meals it was worth a roll of the dice.

There is good news and bad news. First the bad- The knobs on this pedal are more wobbly than other Behringer pedals I own. They function fine, but add to the cheap feel of the pedal. Also, this thing is a juice hog. My NiMH 9v batteries only last for about 20 minutes before requiring swap out. Compared to all my other pedals this is a very short time. I recommend you have a 9v power supply or external battery connector of some kind.

The good news- This thing sounds fantastic. I have a EHX Soul Food, a Boss OD-2, a Digitech Screamin' Blues pedal and a Behringer VT911 as well as the TO100. The Behringer TO100 is that OD pedal that can take an SS amp (or tube) right to the edge of breakup without a lot of sound coloration. It won't take you into distortion like my other pedals, but I don't think it was meant to be a fuzz.

No, it isn't rock solid like a Boss or other boutique pedal. But I paid nine washingtons for it and it's well worth that amount of money. If you're new to pedals and you want to see what an OD does, this is a cheap way to get into it.

I would love to get it side by side with an Ibanez Tube Screamer, but that's for another day.

I'm not a lead p[layer but bought it just for a little grit for some songs. The price was right but I think if you are a serious lead player you probably would want something better. For me it's just fine.

Sounds good, keep for a backup and for the kids to use with their guitars. Is used as a clean boost for that extra push on my tube amps.

Comments about Behringer TO100 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I usually shy away from pedals that take away from a clean sound, but I saw this on SDOTD and had to try it. I am already happy that I bought it after only using it once. I have a new Fender Cabronita Thinline telecaster that I haven't been able to bond with yet due to the tone. I ran it through this overdrive pedal with the controls at about 10 o'clock and fell in love with the rock and roll punch that it delivered with the Fender Fidelitron pickups. This pedal just brought it to life. I probably won't use this pedal for everything, but it definately enhanses this Thinline.

The three control knobs are not that rugged, and the body is plastic. But as long as I don't abuse it, it should hold up just fine. The battery asscess is inconvenient, as it is located under the hinged foot treadle and has to be opened by depressing the hinge pins with a ball point pen tip. It's not an issue if you use an external power source (wall wart). It is listed as drawing 30 mA of power. This pedal is not a fuzz box, but an overdrive to add gain. Buying it was a no-brainer due to the reduced price, but even at full price this item is worth it. I'm sure that a more rugged overdrive pedal is available for substantially more money, but this one suits my needs quite well. Highly recommended!

Comments about Behringer TO100 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

For it's price, this is one remarkable drive pedal. It kind of shares similar DNA to the iconic "green box" by Ibanez in that it mixes your original signal with it's distorted signal. But it doesn't seem to have the same mid hump as the well known T_be Scre_mers. It reminds me more of a Digitech Bad Monkey in that it seems to engage a bass boost as well accentuating what sounds like lower mids when the gain is up higher.

I noticed at lower gain settings, this pedal is quite a bit more transparent than the TS and its clones, if you keep the tone control right at noon. But if you want more brightness, treble in your signal, simply turn up the tone control.

Makes this overdrive pedal super versatile at a price that blows lesser versatile dirt pedals away!

Comments about Behringer TO100 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a pretty fair overdrive, and if you don't expect a lot you won't be disappointed. It's solid and has a nice, mellow tone. Please remember, this is not a fuzz box, or even a Tube Screamer. If you want rougher distortion out of the box, it's not going to be what you're after. But this overdrive is a solid member of any effects chain.

For metal style i found it useful for adding just a litte sizzle to my riffs without coloring the tone too much. It didn't sound too great on power chords though. I found it worked best going through the preamp of my 6505+ . I tried it through the effects loop but it weakend my tone too much.

Comments about Behringer TO100 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Nice smooth tube simulator. Had picked up a Behringer Pre Amp Boost pedal and was surprised at what a neat, effective little pedal it was at a bargain basement price. Granted, as per other complaints, it's housed in a plastic case and the battery changing system is a bit of a pain, but for the price it's had to beat. Just be careful with it and it will last.

Great! Are you kidding? How can you go wrong for the price? Sounds just like the classic Tube Screamer. Yeah, it has a plastic body, so probably not as "tough" as the cast metal ones, but it's pretty darn heavy plastic, and how many of these can you buy for the price of one of the metal ones, right?? Seems to me they probasbly have the same "guts."

I use this with a keyboard and was able to tune in the exact sound I was looking for - a moderate overdrive. It is plastic but seems sturdy and well made. I use this in a home studio and don't gig with it. I got this on the deal but feel it is a great bargain at the normal price.

The only thing is that it is made of plastic and has cheap potentiometers and switches, probably plastic as well, but for the price, I am very happy. I am not planning on stomping on this.

Comments about Behringer TO100 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is by far the best sounding overdrive pedal I have used. It mimics the Ibanez TS-9 to a 'T', but at a fraction of the cost. The build quality isn't the greatest (knobs seem flimsy), but at the sale price you cant go wrong. I bought two just because. Added to your amps built in overdrive gives that added boost without harshness to the sound change. Behringer came through for me once again.

Basically this is a copy of a very famous overdrive pedal only instead of being in a Green Box it's in a light Purple Box.

This is just some great insight as an alternative to getting the same sound for less money.

I can set it from real clean to tube type clipping without shredding. Very useful for a inexpensive effect. Very low noise Yeah its plastic, don't stomp on it! I am getting another one!

It will add a fair boost to your leads but nothing you could not produce with you good guitar amp. On the other-hand, thier commpressor sustain pedal is great and I use it all the time.

I bought one for hosting and playing open mic nights, where PA systems provide the instrument amplification. they are good for this, giving a tubey tone without having to lug extra guitar amps. its been a long time since I played a tube screamer, the Ibanez classic this clones but my impression is the same for both...not too gainy and good for blues and electric guitar accompaniment of acoustic rock. I like my new pedal for ten spot wow!
