Although I own a vintage Fender Studio Bass amp and have auditioned several others, my BX600 is my favorite bass amp. Great sound, nice choice of really useful features without a lot of "fluff" - like all of Behringer's line.Excellent sound for the price and for the size and weight. The "shape" feature is a huge plus - if the user takes the time to explore and use it, he/she can get much of the effect of having a high-end active-electronics bass. The tone controls offer alot more opportunity to tweak the sound than other bass amps in this price range. Oh, one thing the user should watdch out for: with the power cord totally removable (probably a good feature for most people), you need to check that BOTH ends of the cord are all the way in. I loaned mine to a bandmate once who couldn't get it to turn on - and I believe the power cord being a little loose at the amp-end was the problem. If I ever need a bass amp with more oomph, I'll probably choose another Behringer Ultrabass. The BX600 certainly offers superb performance for the money!

I had this amp and loved it. it was loud enough for our practice space and the dual inputs let me use a keyboard in it at the same time which was sweet. then one day, unplugging from input 1, the bolt of the input fell off (must've been stripped even though it was never moved) and the jack fell inside the amp. i relied on input 2 for a little while, but a week or so later, it would just make a blaring noise when i turned it on and no matter the settings on my bass or the amp, continued to make the sound at full volume. behringer contacts were very unhelpful, not only did they take over 2 weeks to reply to me but they basically told me i would just have to buy a new one cause i'm too far from a repair place.

All you really need

By Anonymous

I really like this amp, i got it on clearance so i cant complaini usually play with the shape all the way up and when i practice i put it at liek a onebut when im jamming with my band i can hear it easily on 5, over two 120 watt guitar amps and a drum set, the sounds are good but i have nothing to compare it with, its kinda heavy especially for my scrawny guitarist but for me its not an issue, its awesome with my fender jag bass, since that really does all the tone work the amp just needs to amp, the eq is really good and its cool to turn the bass all the way up and pretend like u are a dub bassist hahaha i play progressive alt rock and funk so yea i guess it works great the handle is a little annoying but the amp is sick, i wish that there was a place for the chord mine always drags around and its kinda wierd having a passive and active imput they sound totally different even when my bass is flipped to active i use t6he passive side, no worries tho it works great i love it.

Awesome

I just bought one of these today. I read some reviews that if you played anything faster than quarters you got distortion. Not me. One review said that if you turned it up past 6 it would be distorted. Well, there was distortion, but it was actually the rafters rattling. Ths thing is loud. I bought it to jam with my band buddies, after all my Peavey TNT 115 is quite heavy to lug around. This is only 44 lbs. I wanted a Peavey MAX 112, but it is only 40 watts. The size is the same, so for the money, buy this. Gotta love that German engineering too. By the way, with the shape control I got that vintage ric tone with my 4003.

How Big's the Speaker???

By Lugnut-Tele-Man

from Missouri Ozarks-Branson

See all my reviews

12-inches and this thing needs a 15" at least I have had this amp now for 2-yrs. It has never went down on me and it works very well until the volume gets 2/3's up to full then the speaker gives a little rattle and distorts, and not the type of distortion one would like either, I used it in the studio and for smaller venues under 200 people or less, for the money, it's a great buy, and it does fine with the bass guitar and a 6-string electric guitar, I've even had a Keyboard plugged into this amp and it seemed great even above 2/3's volume with keys. Its' like it was made for keys as that showed me awesome tone and projection, but all in all if it had a bigger speaker it would be perfect, but as it is, it still rates a 9-overall.

What a deal !!!

I was VERY surprised when I got this. A great deal on a nice high quality amp. Powerful enough for smaller venues. Very high build quality. I love the tolex covering. I am really turned off by the ozite/carpet covering on so many amps. Everything sticks to them. This is a real nice machine. Get yourself one !!

Awesome Amp!

By LowBmaster

from Portland, OR

I bought this amp a while back when my old crate amp gave out. I must say, since then this amp has been awesome! I play a six string Austin, and this amp handles the Low-end and High-end notes with no problems. I've played a few small shows with this amp and it keeps up with the boys in the band quite well. Overall it's an awesome amp.

really good loud amp.

I take bass lessons and my awesome bass teacher uses this all the time. He uses all kinds of effects connected to this thing and its works fine. I only own a 15 watt johnson amp that could never work on a show. My teacher let me borrow it and i used it for a school talent show. I put it on 3 and it was enough for the whole show. Great amp

Surprisingly loud and decent tone!

By Steve-x-nJm

This amp is plenty loud, and more than ample for bedroom practice. The equalizer is tricky to get used to, as it is extremely sensitive. The shape filter may be useful for some players, but I never use it.

Loud for the size. Equalizer has good effect proportions on dials. Great array of line-ins and line-outs.

Two brand new BX600's break down!

By Joe-eVKeY

from Pennsylvania

I played the BX600 for 15 seconds at medium volume and it broke down. I sent it back and ordered another BX600 and the same thing happened! I must admit that the amp sounded good and performed well for the 15 seconds. But I don't think I can afford enough of these amps that would be needed to get me thru a gig!!!

Sometimes i can't get the thing to turn on. But when i can it sounds good and is really loud. Good if you've got a lot of space to fill with sound and you've got no money.

horrible amp

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I bought this amp about 6 months ago and at first it was the greatest thing in the world. slowly a loud humming started coming out even at low volumes. eventualy the humming took over and sound became very distorted and crackly. playing gigs with this amp is out of the question it can barely be heard over drums. the quality of the parts is very low as well. I blew my input jacks and now the amp is completly useless. i give it props for making it through the countless kicking and beating on when the input jacks blew.BUYER BEWARE bad amp for practice or gigs

KILLER AMP

By FORUM_DESTROYER

from NY

this has to be one, if not the bast amp in it's price range. i bought it think'n it would be alright for fool'n around with, and maybe a small gig. but i thought wrong this is a full blown work hores. Don't let the 60 watt foul you. this play's louder then my vintage bass man 100, and was a hell of alot cheaper. it's has a really punchy, agressive sound to it, and it's SUPER LOUD. I can only bring it to 4, cuz every thing in my room starts to shake, but if you turn in up to 6 or up it's a beast.

Great practice amp.

By H8mile

from Michigan

Great little amp. It's portable but hefty and seems to be constructed quite well. The shape filter allows you to change the tone to fit your style of music and works well. My band pratices in a basement and this amp barely keeps up with the lead guitar on a 120w crate, sometimes I can't hear myself. I give it a 7 for value because you can get the bx1200 for 40 bucks more. I guess if all you can come up with is $160 this is a good deal but If I could do it over again I'd buy the 120w bx1200. It's double the power for 1/4 of the price.

PUNCHY!!!

By Michael-0Zc_z

from Denison, KS

See all my reviews

This amp gives you plenty of punch, it amazed me when I first got it and I cranked it up. It is also very loud for a sixty watt. If you play shows and your guitarist has those 100 watt combo's, this thing will work great for you. You can still hear yourself when they have their amps turned up all the way and yours is only turned up half way. This thing is a powerhouse! If you want a great, punchy, loud amp for not too much money. This is the amp for you

This thing is LOUD!

By Anonymous

I got this amp for my birthday a few days ago after I tried it at a friends house I really liked it but now that I have it I love it! I only had the volume on 6 and you could feel it in your chest and shaking the floor (it is loud). For the size and price I recomend this amp to any one.

If you are considering buying this amp, GET IT you won't be let down. I was shocked when I got mine, you can get what ever sound you want with the tunning. It has really nice low end sound, I like a smooth sound, and you can get both smooth and bright and punchy sound with this amp. I won't ever need to replace this amp!!!!
